Table - best surf conditions forecast for Swanage over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s on the cards for Swanage.
Honestly, it’s a pretty grim outlook for the next sixteen days. This is a very sheltered spot, and it rarely breaks to begin with, so a blank run like this is more the norm than a surprise. We’re looking at a long stretch of no good surf from the start, right through until the very end of the period.
The first real action, and I’m using that word loosely, doesn’t show up until Monday the 27th of July. We’ve got a bump in swell coming, with a 6ft swell from the SW, but the period is a short 7 seconds. The combined energy is moderate at 293, but the wind is a strong 25 mph cross-offshore. That’s a lot of wind. For a beginner, this is too big, and for a beach setup, the short period and strong breeze will make it a choppy, blown-out mess. This looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing.
Then Tuesday the 28th of July morning is the closest thing to a standout. The swell drops to 4ft from the WSW, period picks up to 8 seconds, and the combined energy is 171. The wind finally turns moderate offshore and clean. That’s the best wind we’ll see all forecast. The waves will be clean, but the swell is still marginal for consistency. It’s the one session worth a look if you’re desperate. The water temperature is about average for the time of year.
The rest of the window is a write-off. Thursday morning the 22nd of July has a moment of glassy conditions, but the swell is a tiny 2ft and short period, so it’s barely a ripple. Don’t get your hopes up.
Signing off, Rusty.
