Alright, Rusty here. Let's get real about this stretch of coast.

I hate to be the one to say it, but there's absolutely nothing doing for the next 16 days. The forecast shows a total blank run of poor surf conditions from now until the 27th of July. That's a solid two-week gap with no recommendations at all.

The only break in the picture is Surfers Point Campground. It's a fairly consistent spot that's exposed to the swell, and it likes it from the WSW. But it doesn't matter how good the setup is when there's no swell to speak of. The water is a warm 77°, which is about 5° warmer than usual for this time of year – that's a serious anomaly.

Right from the start, it's flat. Sunday the 12th is a mess with a 4ft, 5-second windswell from the NE and a choppy cross-breeze. Monday the 13th is glassy and flat, Tuesday the 14th is flat and onshore. It's a depressing pattern. The only tiny hint of life is on Wednesday morning the 15th with a 1ft wave from the WNW, but it's a weak 4-second period and the combined energy is a pathetic 3. That's not a wave, it's a ripple. Then it goes straight back to flat, with a few days of glassy conditions but no swell to go with them.

The second week is a carbon copy. Thursday the 18th of July is glassy and flat. Even towards the end of the month, from the 25th to the 27th, we get some clean offshore breezes from the ESE and S, but again, there's zero swell energy. This setup looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing.

For a spot that's fairly consistent, this is a rough stretch. But the good news is it doesn't usually stay this poor for long, and forecasts can change. For now, leave the boards at home.

Rusty.
