Table - best surf conditions forecast for Scarborough over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here, checking in on the next couple of weeks. Let’s get into it.
The water’s sitting at 51°, which is a little warmer than the usual for this time of year, about a degree above average, so it’s not too chilly.
We start off at Scarborough on Thursday, July 9th. The morning brings a 5ft easterly swell with an 11-second period, and a cross-offshore wind. The combined energy is moderate (434). It’s a bit inconsistent here, and you might see a few other folks out, so don’t expect a private session. The afternoon cleans up with offshore wind, dropping to 4ft, still a decent wave for the beginners.
Friday, July 10th, is another clean day. The morning has 4ft easterly swell with offshore wind, glassy conditions. The afternoon is even lighter, with the wind backing off. The swell drops a bit over the weekend. Saturday, July 11th, has 3ft in the morning, turning glassy in the afternoon with 2ft. Sunday, July 12th, is a bust with onshore wind and tiny surf—just 2ft. That flat spell continues into Monday and Tuesday with small, weak waves.
Now, here’s the good part. We’ve got a bit of a lull until the real standout shows up. Friday, July 17th, is the one to circle. The morning sees a 3ft easterly swell, but the period jumps to 16 seconds—that’s a proper groundswell with some serious push. The combined energy is strong at 514. The wind is glassy, making for perfect conditions. This is a long-period swell, so it’ll wrap in nicely, giving you some good shape, but it might be a bit too straight for the beach break, so look for a reef or point. This is the best of the entire forecast.
Saturday, July 18th, keeps it going with a 3ft easterly swell at 14 seconds, glassy, and energy at 477. Sunday morning, July 19th, is glassy again with 4ft at 13 seconds, energy at 504. The afternoon gets a bit cross-onshore, and the swell bumps up to 5ft, but it’s still surfable.
The big one is Monday, July 20th. The morning has 7ft from the ENE with a 10-second period. The combined energy is strong at 687, and it’s glassy. That’s a solid size, maybe too much for the beginners, but a good challenge for the experienced crew. The afternoon gets a cross-onshore wind, and the swell pushes to 7ft, which is expert territory. Tuesday, July 21st, has onshore wind and a 6ft swell, with energy at 805, but the wind is messy.
From Wednesday, July 22nd, the swell fades. The morning has 4ft with cross-offshore wind, but it’s not the same quality. The rest of the week into the 24th looks poor with onshore wind and dropping swell.
So, to wrap it up: the first few days are small but clean. The real standout is the glassy, long-period groundswell from Friday, July 17th through Monday, July 20th. That’s your best bet.
Rusty.
