Alright, this is Rusty.
Let me level with you. This 16-day forecast is a total flat spell. The only spot on the map is Reef Road and for the vast majority of the time, it’s dead.
There’s a massive gap in any real surf from the start on July 6th all the way through to about July 19th. For a week and a half, we’re talking about waves you could barely get your fins wet on. The swell energy is right in the weak zone (low values like 1, 9, 12 up to 75). On top of that, the wind is almost always cross or cross-onshore out of the southeast, which keeps the ocean looking like chopped-up soup.
The single half-decent moment arrives on Monday, July 21st. The wind finally switches to a clean cross-offshore out of the SSW. The swell is still only 3 ft from the E with a short period of 5 seconds. The energy is moderate (65). It’s small, but at least it will look clean. The water temp is about 86°, which is pretty standard for this time of year.
There isn’t a standout anywhere in this window – it’s all just a wait-and-see kind of deal. Forget the shortboard. If you’re desperate, that small, clean session on the 21st might work on a longboard. Usually, this area has more life, so a run this quiet is unusual; forecasts can always flip.
Rusty.
