Praia do Morro Surf Forecast and Surf Report

Alright, let’s get into it. The 16-day outlook for Praia do Morro is a bit of a grind, to be honest. We’re looking at a long stretch where the surf is mostly small and the wind is just messy. The first real glimmer of something decent doesn’t show up until the 15th, and even then, it’s not a classic. We’ve got a lot of cross-shore wind and short-period junk to sift through before we get there.

The water temp is sitting about average for this time of year, so no surprises there. It’s just a matter of waiting for the stars to align.

Looking at the start of the period, Wednesday the 5th is pretty ordinary. We’ve got a 3ft east swell at 7 seconds, but the wind is cross-off from the NNE at 9 mph. It’s surfable, but there’s no push or shape to it. The energy is weak (160). By the afternoon, the wind swings NE and picks up, making it a cross-shore mess.

Thursday the 6th is a write-off. The swell drops to 0.7ft and the wind is howling from the NE at 22 mph in the afternoon. Nothing to see here. Friday is the same story, just tiny leftover swell and clean but useless conditions. The weekend doesn't offer any relief either. Saturday the 8th has a small 3ft east swell but the wind is all over the place, and by the afternoon, it's a strong cross-shore breeze. Sunday the 9th is more of the same, just small and junky.

The early part of the following week, from the 10th to the 12th, keeps that trend going. There's a little bump in energy on the 12th (193), but it’s a short-period SSE windswell at 4ft with a cross-onshore wind. It’s going to be lumpy and uninviting.

Finally, on Saturday the 15th, we get a bit of a window. The morning looks like the pick of the fortnight. There’s a 2ft southeast swell at 14 seconds, which is a proper groundswell. The wind is light and cross-off from the north at 9 mph, which should keep the sandbar at Praia do Morro clean. The energy is moderate (249). This is the standout, but with that longer period, it’s a bit more suited to a point or reef than a straight beach break like this. Still, it’s the best we’re going to get. The afternoon, however, turns to junk with a risk of t-storms and a cross-on breeze.

Sunday the 16th has a similar morning, with a 2ft SE swell at 14 seconds and clean conditions, but it’s a bit more marginal. The afternoon turns messy again. After that, it’s back to small, weak, and windy conditions for the rest of the period. The 20th shows a little bit of life with a 3ft east swell, but it’s short-period and the wind will likely be an issue.

So, bottom line: mark your calendar for the morning of Saturday the 15th. It’s not going to be big, but it’s the only time when the conditions look like they’ll actually line up for a clean, if small, session. Everything else is a fight against the wind and the lack of swell.
