Table - best surf conditions forecast for Perran Sands over the next 16 days.

Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what Perran Sands has in store for us over the next couple of weeks. Gotta be straight with you – it’s a tough stretch. The water’s sitting at 63°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, but that’s about the only easy thing.

We’re starting off on Friday the 10th, and it’s not much to write home about. We've got a tiny 3ft wave from the west, but the wind is a cross-off from the ENE. The energy is weak (128), and honestly, it’s surfable but feels flat and ordinary.

Saturday the 11th and Sunday the 12th? Just walk away. The swell drops right off, and the wind is howling cross-off, making a mess of things. There’s a gap of real frustration here. Monday the 13th and Tuesday the 14th are more of the same – tiny, weak, and messy.

The pattern just keeps grinding. Wednesday the 15th sees the wind go glassy in the afternoon, which is a beautiful thing to see, but there’s zero push behind it – a 1ft wave with barely any energy (38). It’s a cruel tease. From there, we see a slow, ugly build-up of cross-onshore junk through the end of the week and into the weekend. Thursday the 16th through to Sunday the 19th is a write-off for paddling.

Now, here’s where it gets interesting, and I mean that for the experienced crew only. Come Wednesday the 22nd, the swell is starting to pump, but it’s a lumpy, cross-onshore mess of 6ft, driven by a strong north wind. The energy is ramping up (360), but the quality is poor. This pattern continues through Thursday the 23rd, with a 7ft swell and energy hitting 464, but it’s still chopped up.

The Big One – and our only true standout – lands on Friday the 24th of July. This is the one to circle on your calendar. We’ve got a proper west groundswell pumping in. Friday morning sees a solid 13ft at 10 seconds, with a screaming offshore SE wind at 19 mph. The energy is massive (3402), and the setup is going to be clean. By Friday afternoon, it gets even bigger: 15ft at a very long 12-second period, with the wind still offshore from the SE. The energy is extreme (5203). This is *excellent* for experienced surfers. With that size and power, you need to know what you’re doing. The crowd is sometimes a factor here, and on a day like this, you can bet the local crew will be frothing, so expect company.

Saturday the 25th still has size, with a 10ft swell, but the wind switches to a light cross-shore in the morning and a gentle cross-on in the afternoon. It will still be big, but the conditions get messier, so the quality drops off from the day before.

So, to wrap it up: there’s a lot of dry spells and junk to sift through, but if you are an expert, that Friday the 24th is your day. It’s clean, powerful, and deep. That’s the real deal.

Rusty.
