Alright, this is Rusty here, and we’re lookin’ at a stretch for Perran Sands. Straight up: the next couple of weeks are a bit of a mixed bag. There’s a blank run of nothin’ worthwhile for the first few days, so don’t get your hopes up too early.
The first real chance of something decent comes on Friday morning, the 3rd of July. It’s not massive, but it’s clean. Swell is 4 ft from the west with a 10-second period, and the wind is glassy – that’s a rare gem right there. Water temp’s sittin’ at 62°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, so you won’t be shiverin’. That Friday morning window is easily the best on offer early on – small, clean, and all yours if you’re keen.
That said, the surf goes quiet again for days after that. On Monday morning, the 6th, there’s a tiny 3 ft swell from the west with glassy conditions again, but the energy is weak (101). It’s surfable but ordinary – only worth it if you’re desperate. Then we hit another big gap with barely any wave power, until we get a long-range standout around Tuesday morning, the 14th of July. That one’s a bit more promising: 4 ft from the west, period bumpin’ to 11 seconds, combined energy of 375 – solid moderate. Winds are calm, glassy. It could be a real treat, but it’s two weeks out, so keep an eye on it.
Through the second week, there’s nothing else that really jumps out. The period on the 13th gets up to 15 seconds, but the swell’s only 1 ft, so it’s more of a long-period bump than a proper wave. That 14th morning is the one to circle.
Bottom line: if you’re after a paddle, Friday morning the 3rd is your best early bet, and Tuesday the 14th is the long-range hope. Everything else is pretty flat or messy.
Rusty.
