Table - best surf conditions forecast for Perran Sands over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the cards for the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you – it's a grim start. We're looking at a real flat spell. From now until around the 20th of July, there's just nothing doing. The swell is tiny, and even when there's a little bump, the wind is all over the shop. It's a proper write-off for a solid week or more.
There's a glimmer of something on the horizon, but it's a long way off. The best bet in this whole 16-day window looks like Perran Sands on the morning of Tuesday the 22nd of July. Now, this is a long-range call, so don't book the day off work just yet, but the models are showing a proper pulse. We're looking at a 10ft swell from the west-northwest, with a period of 8 seconds. That's a lot of water moving, and the combined energy is a massive 1157 – that's a strong, powerful ocean. The wind is light, blowing onshore from the north-west. This is big, meaty stuff. At 10ft, this is strictly for the experienced crew only; beginners, stay well clear. The water temp is sitting at a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, about 64°.
The afternoon of the 22nd holds similar size at 10ft, but the wind picks up a bit more from the north-west, making it a bit lumpier. The day after, on the 23rd, the swell drops to 7ft but it's still cross-onshore, so it'll be a bit bumpy.
Honestly, aside from that one big day on the 22nd, the rest of the forecast is a bust. There's a few knee-high days with messy wind, but nothing to get excited about. For a spot like Perran Sands, which is fairly consistent, a stretch this long with no real quality surf is a bit of a bummer. It's a waiting game.
Rusty.
