Table - best surf conditions forecast for Moruya Rivermouth over the next 16 days.
G’day, it’s Rusty here. Look, I’ll be straight with you – Moruya Rivermouth is going through a pretty lean patch right now. There’s a long gap of nothing really worth paddling out for, stretching from now all the way through to the end of the first week. The swell is tiny, mostly under 1 foot, and the wind is all over the shop. It’s not until Monday the 20th of July that we finally see something that gets the heart beating a little faster.
The big standout is Monday morning the 20th of July. The swell bumps up to a clean 3 ft from the ENE, with a period of 10 seconds – that’s a nice, workable groundswell. The wind is glassy, dead calm, so the surface will be like a mirror. The combined energy comes in at 258 (moderate), so there’s enough push to get you into something. This is your best shot by a long way. It’s a beginner-friendly river-mouth setup, so if you’re newer to the game, this is your window. The water temp is about average for the time of year, nothing wild.
The rest of the second week is a bit of a mixed bag. Tuesday the 21st and Wednesday the 22nd of July have similar swell heights around 4 ft to 3 ft from the ENE, but the wind is cross or cross-onshore, so it’s not as clean. The energy is still moderate (around 280 and 164), but it’s a tougher paddle. Thursday the 23rd and Friday the 24th of July drop off again, with smaller 2 ft to 3 ft swell and variable winds. Saturday the 25th and Sunday the 26th of July have a bit of clean, cross-off wind, but the swell is only 2 ft to 2 ft from the ENE and E, so it’s small and ordinary. The 16-second period on the 19th of July is a tease – long-period groundswell, but only 1 ft of it, so there’s no real energy.
Overall, it’s a quiet stretch. If you’ve got a kite, the windier afternoons with that 4 ft ENE swell might be more interesting, but for a paddle, hold out for that Monday morning glass-off. The rest is just a waiting game.
Rusty.
