Table - best surf conditions forecast for Moruya Rivermouth over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s talk about the Moruya Rivermouth stretch. The start is quiet – nothing really worth mentioning from Saturday the 11th all the way through Tuesday the 14th. Then things start to pick up.
Wednesday the 15th of July morning is your first good session. A clean 1.6m south swell, around 10 seconds between waves, and glassy conditions with barely a whisper of wind from the WSW. The combined energy clocks in at 630 (moderate), and the rivermouth will be handling it sweet. It’s a beginner-friendly spot, so that size is perfect for most. Clean and fun.
The afternoon gets a cross-onshore breeze, so it won’t be as nice. But that morning is the best of the first week.
Another quiet spell from the 16th to the 19th, with only small, short-period swell. Sunday the 19th morning offers a 1.2m easterly swell, but it’s short period at 7 seconds and cross-shore wind, so not great shape. Skip it.
Then Monday the 20th of July morning is a solid step up: 1.6m easterly swell with offshore west wind at about 10 km/h, clean, energy reading 664 (strong). That’s a very good session.
But the real standout is Tuesday the 21st of July morning. A 2.0m easterly swell with a 13-second period – that’s proper groundswell with serious power. Combined energy is huge at 1327 (strong), and the wind is dead calm, glassy as can be. This is excellent for experienced surfers. Too big for beginners, but for anyone with skills, it’s the session to lock in.
Wednesday the 22nd morning is still very good – 1.7m easterly swell, glassy, solid energy.
Then it gets enormous. Thursday the 23rd hits with a 4.5m ESE swell, period 11 seconds, and insane energy at 9369 (very strong). The forecast says it’s too big for this break. Same story Friday the 24th with 3.5m to 3.0m swells – expert only, and even then, the rivermouth will be a mess.
Saturday the 25th of July morning drops to a more manageable 2.3m from the ESE, glassy, with 10-second period. That’s still big, but for an experienced surfer, it’s clean and powerful (energy 1018).
After that, Sunday the 26th morning is a 1.2m glassy ESE swell – a nice easy session to wind down.
The two standout days are the morning of Wednesday the 15th for the average surfer, and the morning of Tuesday the 21st for the experts. There’s a four-day gap at the start, but once it fires, it’s worth the wait.
