Table - best surf conditions forecast for Milook over the next 16 days.
G’day, it’s Rusty. Let’s break down Milook. Honestly, this is a tough one—two weeks of mostly nothing, and that’s a real letdown for a reef break. Water temp is 64°F, and it’s about 4°F warmer than normal for this time of year, so it’s nice for swimming. But surfing? Not so much.
First chance to paddle out comes on Friday, July 10, but it’s a waste. You’ve got a 3ft wave from the west, period of 9 seconds—short and weak. Wind is a light cross-onshore at 6 mph, and energy is only 106. Poor conditions all around.
Saturday, July 11, is clean with a cross-off breeze from the ENE at 12 mph, but the swell drops to 2ft in the morning and 2ft in the afternoon. Periods are even shorter. It’s clean but basically flat. Energy is 51 and 55.
Sunday, July 12, keeps clean but the swell is tiny—1ft in the morning, dropping to 0.3ft by afternoon. Wind ramps up to 19 mph offshore, but there’s nothing to ride. Energy at 23 and 19.
From Monday, July 13, through to Thursday, July 25, it’s a flat spell. Swell heights mostly sit between 0.3ft and 1ft, periods are short, and energy stays low. A few days, like Tuesday, July 22, show a 6ft swell with 7-second period and energy at 315—but the short period and cross-chop make it a mess. Not worth it.
The one standout comes way later. On Friday, July 24, morning brings an 12ft swell from the west with a 10-second period. That’s a groundswell, and energy is massive at 2652 (strong). Wind is offshore from the southeast at 16 mph—clean faces. Over 8ft, so it’s for experts only, especially at a reef. Afternoon pumps to 13ft with 11-second period and energy at 4046 (very strong), but wind goes cross-off and tide looks tricky. The morning window is your best shot—the only real standout in the whole 16 days.
Saturday, July 25, still has 8ft swell from the west with 11-second period and energy at 1555, but wind turns cross and then cross-on, making it less clean. Only for strong surfers.
So, if you’re waiting for the good stuff, circle Friday, July 24. Everything before that is flat or weak. Not a great run, but that one morning could be a beauty.
