The Lowdown
Alright, folks, Rusty here. Truth is, the next sixteen days are going to be a real test of your patience. More often than not, the wind is going to be all over the place and the surf is going to be junk. You’re going to have to be picky about when you even bother paddling out.
We start with a solid stretch of poor conditions. The wind is up and the swell is weak and messy through the first few days. You're looking at a lot of onshore slop. Things improve slightly around the 24th when the wind turns offshore and cleans things up, but by then the swell has completely died. It’ll be glassy, but tiny. Then the wind swings around and messes it up again. A lot of waiting for nothing.
We get a little pulse of energy on the 26th, but it’s accompanied by rough, onshore winds, making it a complete mess.
Now, for the one moment that might get your heart pumping: the 31st of August. A solid, powerful groundswell rolls in, with waves hitting around 7 feet. The energy in the water is intense. But here’s the catch – it’s coming with a strong, howling onshore wind. This is not a day for the faint of heart. It’s going to be big, unruly, and only for experienced surfers who are ready for a fight.
After that, we get a bit of a let-up. The 2nd of September sees a new swell with lighter winds, giving us a brief, more manageable window for some fun waves, though nothing epic.
The water is much warmer than we’d expect this time of year, which is a small win. But overall, this forecast is about picking your battles and surviving the blown-out days. Stay patient, and wait for the ocean to give us a break.
Rusty out.
