Table - best surf conditions forecast for Milook over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's get stuck into this one. To be straight with you, the next couple of weeks look pretty grim for Milook. We've got a long, long stretch of nothing but tiny, wind-chopped slop or full-on onshore junk. The entire first week and more is basically a write-off, so don't even bother checking the cam.
Now, I see a flicker of something on the horizon. The only real chance of a wave comes in the second week. The standout, and I mean the only game in town, looks to be Monday the 27th of July. Milook is a reef setup, exposed to the swell, and it's gonna get a punch from the west. The swell direction is WSW, which isn't a perfect match for the optimum, but it'll do. We're looking at a solid 8.2ft of west swell with a long period of 10 seconds. That's proper groundswell energy, with the combined energy coming in at a hefty 1170. This is expert-only territory though; that size at a reef with onshore wind is no joke. The wind is forecast to be onshore from the WNW, so conditions won't be glassy. The morning shows a light breeze, which is the better window, but it's still on it. Expect a bit of a bumpy face, but for a wave-starved stretch, this is the only pulse with any real grunt. The set-up means it'll be breaking a bit straight on the beach sections, but the reef structure should hold some shape.
The afternoon of the 27th sees similar size, around 7.9ft, still from the west, but the wind picks up and stays onshore, giving it a 'marginal' feel. Still, if you're a competent charger, that Monday morning is your shot.
Before that, the morning of the 26th of July shows a modest run of 3.6ft swell from the WSW with combined energy at 147, but the onshore wind from the WNW will just mess it up. Don't be tempted; it'll be lumpy and weak. The rest of the window is flat or close to it. A few tiny 1ft days with cross-offshore breeze look clean, but you’ll struggle to get wet.
Bottom line: a big gap of nothing, then one solid, expert-only day. For the rest of us, it’s a waiting game. Forecasts can change, but as it stands, this is a tough run.
