The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s talk about the waves.
Right now, looking at the whole picture, there’s no surf to get excited about for a long stretch. We’ve got a massive gap at the start with nothing rideable. The first faint glimmer of something surfable doesn’t pop up until the 1st of September, and even then it’s only just barely.
For Lowestoft, the water is a full 5.4° warmer than usual for this time of year, so you’ll feel that difference.
The pattern here is flat, flat, and more flat. From today, the 22nd of August, right through the rest of the month, it’s a write-off. The waves are tiny, the wind is mostly onshore or cross, and the energy readings are in the gutter. Every session is flagged as poor conditions. It’s the kind of run where you don’t even bother waxing your board.
We skip ahead, and our only real stand-out, and I mean the *only* one, is the morning of the 3rd of September. We get a clean, cross-off wind and a small but noticeable bump of energy from the NNE at 3ft with a 9-second period. The combined energy hits 149 (moderate range). It’s not gonna be a classic, but it’s the best we’ve got. The wind is clean, making for tidy conditions. It’s a beginner-friendly wave size, but the inconsistent nature of the break means you’ll be sitting waiting a bit. Crowds are likely here often, so expect company.
After that one little spike, it fades straight back into the doldrums. It’s a lean forecast period, plain and simple.
Short Range ForecastMostly dry. Very mild (max 18°C on Mon morning, min 14°C on Sat night). Winds increasing (light winds from the N on Sun morning, fresh winds from the E by Mon night). | Days 5-7 Weather SummaryModerate rain (total 10mm), heaviest on Thu morning.
