Alright, let’s get into it. This is a tough stretch for Lowestoft. Looking at the whole 16-day window, there just isn’t any decent surf to get excited about. We’ve got a long, flat gap starting from right now and running right through until around the 20th of July, maybe even longer, with barely a ripple worth mentioning.
The water temp at Lowestoft is sitting at 65°, which is a full 6° warmer than usual for the time of year – that’s really unusual, feels more like a warm bath than the North Sea. But, with no real swell to enjoy it, it’s a bit of a waste.
The first few days, morning of the 6th through to the 10th, you’re looking at tiny, weak pulses – 0.7ft to 2ft at best – with short-period windswell. The combined energy is laughable, barely a whisper at 2 to 30 (that’s weak energy). The wind is mostly cross-off or onshore, so it’s not even clean. The 8th has a brief moment with a 1ft swell from the NNE and a 6-second period, but it’s blown out by onshore easterlies by the afternoon.
As we head into the second week, the 12th and 13th of July see a slight bump, with swell heights reaching 3ft to 4ft from the NE, and the energy climbs to 55-88 (still only moderate). But the wind is a fresh cross-onshore at 19 mph, turning it into lumpy, choppy mess. Not surfable. The 14th has a brief spike in energy to 111 (moderate), but again, the wind ruins it.
From the 15th onward, it’s a slow death. Tiny waves, poor wind, and from the 19th to the 21st, there’s literally no swell at all – zeros across the board. The last few days on the 21st try to kick off again with 0.7ft and offshore wind, but that’s not enough to paddle for.
Honestly, for Lowestoft, this is a blank run. There’s no standout session, no hidden gem. The setup is mostly a beach break, and with the constant onshore or cross-shore wind and weak energy, it’s more suited for a kite if you’re desperate, not a surfboard. The forecast can always change, but right now, I’d save the wax for another time.
