Table - best surf conditions forecast for Lowestoft over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s be straight with you. For Lowestoft, the next 16 days are a total bust. There’s no surf worth talking about. The first recommendation never shows up, so you’re looking at a gap that runs from now until the end of the month.
The water’s at 66°F – that’s 7°F warmer than normal for this time of year, which is really unusual. Feels like a warm bath, but it won’t save the waves.
The wind is stuck out of the northeast, mostly cross-onshore or onshore, and the swell is tiny and weak. The combined energy sits below 100 for almost the whole stretch – 106 and 112 on the first day, but that’s still weak for a real ride. The swell period is short, 4 to 6 seconds, so it’s just wind chop. Even when the wind flips offshore on the 23rd and 24th July, the swell is 0.7ft to 1.0ft – not enough to break.
For a beginner beach break like Lowestoft, exposed to the north, when it’s this inconsistent and the wind is wrong, there’s nothing to get excited about. This setup looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing, given the constant cross-onshore breeze and lumpy water.
If you’re really keen, the cleanest moments come around the 21st July morning with a light cross-offshore wind, but the swell is 1ft – barely a ripple. The 22nd and 23rd have offshore winds, but the swell is 0.3ft to 0.7ft. It’s a blank run, and for this area, that’s pretty normal. Forecasts can change, but right now, I’d leave the board in the truck.
