The Lowdown
Alright, mates. Rusty here. Let’s take a look at Little Austi and Main Beach for the next couple of weeks.
The water's sitting at about 64°, which is normal for this time of year. The first few days have the best action before the whole thing goes flat.
Sunday the 23rd kicks off with a clean 4 ft swell from the SSE under a light cross-off breeze. The energy is on the lower side, so don't expect any power. The standout stretch is Tuesday the 25th. The morning has a clean 4 ft NE swell, and the afternoon jumps to a solid 5 ft from the NE with a short 7-second period. The combined swell energy gets up to 430, which is solid. Winds stay light and cross-off all day. That's your best bet for size with decent conditions.
Wednesday the 26th is messy with onshore winds. Skip it.
We get a few glassy mornings after that. Friday the 28th morning is dead glassy with a 2 ft SSE groundswell, but the 11-second period might make it a bit fat on a beach break. Saturday the 29th morning is also glassy and clean with a 3 ft SSE swell, putting the combined energy at 251. It’s small but tidy.
From Sunday the 30th onward, the wave heights drop and stay below 3 ft, often down to 2 ft or less. There's a long flat gap that runs through to the end of the window. Monday the 7th of September finally sees a spike in swell size (4 ft from the NE), but the period is a short 5 seconds and the wind is a fresh offshore breeze. It’ll be clean but the waves will be weak and crumbly from that short period.
The best session is Tuesday the 25th afternoon. If you want tiny, glassy, and empty, hit Friday the 28th or Saturday the 29th in the early AM.
Rusty.
