The Lowdown
G'day, Rusty here. Look, we've got a bit of a mixed bag coming up at Austinmer Beach. The water's sitting at a pretty standard 65°F for this time of year, nothing unusual there. The first few days are a bit of a write-off, but there's some hope if you're patient.
The real standout is the Sunday morning of the 23rd of August. We've got a clean 4ft swell rolling in from the south with a decent period, and the combined energy is moderate at 221. The wind is light and offshore, so it'll be glassy. It's not huge, but it's the best we'll see in the early run.
We then hit a bit of a lull. There's nothing decent on Monday or Tuesday afternoon, and Wednesday is a mess. Thursday morning the 27th of August looks promising again – a glassy 4ft south swell, moderate energy at 305, and the wind is barely there. That's a good morning session.
Friday the 28th of August is another glassy start with a 4ft south swell, 298 energy. Clean as a whistle.
After that, it all goes quiet again for a few days, with poor conditions and small chop. The forecast picks up again on Thursday the 3rd of September with a clean 3ft south swell, 206 energy, and light offshore wind.
Then, the best of the whole run shapes up on Saturday the 5th of September. We're looking at a glassy 4ft south-southeast swell, with moderate energy at 306. The wind is dead calm. That's the one to circle. It's a bit further out, but it looks promising.
Rusty.
