Table - best surf conditions forecast for Austinmer Beach over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s have a look at the next 16 days for Austinmer Beach.
Honestly, it’s a pretty slow start. We’re looking at small, weak waves and a lot of average to poor conditions. Sunday morning kicks things off with a tiny 2ft east-southeast swell, period of 10 seconds, and the combined energy is only 95 – that’s weak. The wind is offshore from the west, so it’s clean, but there’s just not enough juice in the water. The water temp is sitting at 65°, which is about normal for this time of year.
Monday and Tuesday are even worse – swell drops right off to less than 1ft, hardly worth paddling for. We’ve got a gap of a few days where the surf is just not offering anything to get excited about.
Then Wednesday the 15th throws a big one. A solid 8ft south swell rolls in, with a period of 9 seconds. The combined energy is massive at 1807 – that’s strong wave energy. But here’s the thing: Austinmer is a beginner-friendly beach break, and 8ft is too big for beginners. The wind is cross-shore from the south, so it’s not clean, either. Honestly, this setup looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing.
Thursday the 16th is still lumpy and messy with that south wind.
Friday the 17th is the best bet in the first week. The swell drops to a more manageable 4-5ft from the east, period 9 seconds, and the combined energy is 353 – moderate. The wind is a light cross-offshore from the south-southwest, which means clean lines. This is the standout for the period. The waves will be surfable, but expect crowds – it’s a spot that does get busy.
The weekend after that is pretty ordinary, with onshore winds and choppy conditions.
Now, look ahead to Sunday the 19th. A nice 7ft east-northeast groundswell, period 11 seconds, combined energy 1240 – strong. In the morning it’s glassy, which is a major positive. But again, 7ft is pushing the limits for this break, and a long-period swell of 11 seconds can make beach breaks a bit straight. It’s a promising long-range call, but less certain.
Monday the 20th is also worth a look. The swell holds at 6ft from the east-northeast, period 11 seconds, with light cross-offshore winds. Clean and surfable.
After that, the surf tails off again. We get a small clean spell on Thursday the 23rd with 2-3ft waves and light offshore wind, but it’s not going to blow your mind.
Overall, Friday the 17th is the pick of the bunch. The Sunday the 19th and Monday the 20th are the long-range ones to keep an eye on, but they’re on the big side for this spot.
