Alright, Rusty here, lookin' at the charts for the next couple of weeks. First up, we gotta be straight with yas – this stretch starts off proper ugly for Austinmer Beach. The swell's gonna be pumpin' hard on Monday the 6th, pushin' about 8ft from the SSE, but it's howlin' a cross-onshore and the whole thing's just blown out rubbish. Nothin' to even look at.
Come Tuesday the 7th, the swell still has some grunt, 10ft to 12ft, and the wind is better, just a cross-shore, but here's the problem – that's way too much water for this beach. It's gonna be a washing machine. This stays, with the swell slowly droppin' through Wednesday the 8th, but it's still too big and the wind keeps it messy. The water temp is sittin' around 65°F, which is pretty much what we'd expect for this time of year, nothing out of the ordinary there.
We finally get a window of hope on Thursday the 9th, with the swell droppin' to around 5-6ft, but it's a rough cross-onshore and the wave comment says it's marginal. The energy's dropped right back too, so don't expect much. That continues into Friday the 10th – small, onshore, and unappealing.
Now, Saturday the 11th is where we get a little glimmer. The swell's dropped right down to about 4ft from the SE, but the wind goes light and cross-offshore, makin' it clean. It's small, but you could get a fun little slide if you're patient. Sunday the 12th has a nice offshore breeze, but the swell is tiny – 3ft – and the energy's weak. It's clean but barely surfable.
We hit a real flat patch from Monday the 13th through Wednesday the 15th. Just tiny dribbles of swell, sometimes clean but barely a ripple. The best of that run is Wednesday afternoon, the 15th, with a glassy, 3ft swell, but it's still pretty ordinary.
Now, here's where it gets spicy. Thursday the 16th morning, the swell jumps back up to 10ft from the S, and the wind is cross-shore. Same old story though – that's big and messy for a beginner spot. Friday the 17th actually gets even bigger, with a massive 15ft S swell, period of 13 seconds, and a ton of energy. That's a lot of water, too big for this beach unless you're an expert and even then, the cross-shore wind will make it a battle.
But hold onto your boards for Saturday the 18th. That's the standout. The swell drops right back to a manageable 5-6ft from the SSE, and here's the magic word – glass. Zero wind. Flat calm. It's gonna be clean as a whistle, and the energy is there for a proper push. For a beach like Austinmer, a 5-6ft groundswell with glassy conditions is a session you don't miss. The period is 9 seconds, so not super long lines, but it'll be fun and shapely.
After that, we fade out again. Sunday the 19th and Monday the 20th have clean conditions but tiny surf. Tuesday the 21st has a weird spike – a long period of 20 seconds from the SSE, but the swell height is only 1-2ft. That long period means it's got energy, but it's gonna be so small it'll barely break, and that long period can make beach breaks a bit straight. It's clean, but not a standout.
So, the best of the lot? Saturday the 18th, hands down. Get on it for a clean, fun session before it goes quiet again. It's a beginner-friendly 5-6ft with absolutely perfect conditions.
