Table - best surf conditions forecast for Austinmer Beach over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's coming down the line for Austinmer Beach.
Right now, we’re looking at a bit of a flat spell. For the next several days, there’s hardly any surf to speak of. The energy just isn’t there, so don't bother paddling out expecting much. It’s a quiet start.
Come Saturday, July 11th, we finally get a little bump. Saturday morning is where it’s at – a clean 4ft swell from the SE, with a period of 9 seconds, and a light offshore breeze from the NW. The water temp is sitting at 65°, which is pretty normal for this time of year. The combined swell energy is moderate (352). It’s a solid beginner-friendly wave, but keep in mind this break can get crowded sometimes. The afternoon sees the wind swing a bit, making things a little messier, so stick to the morning.
Sunday, July 12th, offers a much smaller 2ft swell. Even with clean offshore winds, the energy is weak (95), so it’s honestly not worth getting wet for.
Then things get interesting. On Wednesday, July 15th, a big pulse of south swell rolls in. We’re talking 10ft on Wednesday morning and 8ft in the afternoon. The swell energy is through the roof (1681 and 998), but the period is a short 9 seconds. With the size and a cross-shore wind, this is going to be a messy, powerful, and difficult beast. Honestly, at over 8ft, this is strictly for experts only. For most of us, the setup looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing.
After that, the surf drops back down and stays pretty ordinary for a few days, with wind and swell directions not lining up well for quality.
Now, here’s the real standout: Sunday, July 19th, morning. Get this date in your calendar. The swell bumps up to a clean 6ft from the east, with a 10-second period. The combined energy is strong (770). But the best part is the wind: glassy, flat calm, with a slight offshore influence from the NW. For a beach break like Austinmer, glassy conditions are pure gold. It’s going to be clean, smooth, and absolutely beautiful. This is the pick of the entire outlook. The afternoon does fill in a bit bigger at 7ft, but the wind shifts, so the morning window is your golden ticket.
Looking further out, Monday, July 20th, also has a glassy morning with a solid 8ft, 12-second groundswell. The energy is very strong (1723). But at that size, it’s getting too big for most, and the long period will make it break straight and heavy on the sand. This one is for the experienced crew only.
The last real highlight comes on Friday, July 24th. The morning offers a clean 4ft swell from the ESE, with an 11-second period. Combined energy is moderate (741), but with a light offshore wind from the NNW, the conditions should be well-shaped and fun.
So, to sum it up: the next few days are a write-off, but there’s a golden glassy session on the cards for Sunday morning, July 19th. That’s the one to aim for. The later week also has a few promising, cleaner windows. Stay tuned, the forecasts can always sharpen up.
Rusty.
