Alright, Rusty here. Let’s get straight into it. I’ve got a tough one for you. We’re looking at a stretch of days where the ocean is just not cooperating. Honestly, for the whole 16-day window, there’s nothing that really gets the heart pumping. The waves are tiny to flat, the wind is often messy, and the energy just isn’t there.
We start off on Saturday, July 4th. Early morning at Jupiter Inlet South Jetty is a no-go with a tiny 1ft swell from the NE and a 7-second period. The combined swell energy is a weak 27. The water temp is about average for this time of year – nothing special. By afternoon, it gets worse with a cross-onshore breeze chopping it up.
The whole first week is a write-off. We see a few glassy moments on Sunday morning, July 5th, and Tuesday morning, July 7th, which are about as clean as it gets, but the swell is barely a ripple – 0.7ft. The energy readings are pitiful, often single digits. It’s just not surfable.
There’s a slight bump trying to push through around Friday, July 10th, with 4ft from the SE, but it’s crusty with a cross-onshore wind. Still a zero score. That bit of energy fizzles out into the next week, leaving us with even less.
The best the whole run offers is on Sunday, July 19th, the very last day of the forecast. Early morning, we get a clean offshore wind from the West at 6 mph with 2ft from the NNE. The period is a meager 7 seconds, and the combined energy hits 51, which is still weak. It’s clean, but it’s tiny. For an advanced spot like the Jetty, that’s not doing anyone any favours.
So, there you have it. A flat spell. It’s one of those times you might want to check the wind and just go for a paddle or a swim. For proper surf, you’d be better off waiting for the forecasts to change. This run is a bust.
Rusty.
