The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the cards for the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, it's a quiet stretch ahead. The whole 16-day window is looking pretty flat and mostly blown out for Jupiter Inlet South Jetty. The water is sitting at 86°, which is about a degree and a half warmer than usual for this time of year, so it’s a nice warm bath, but there's just no push to it.
The first few days are a write-off. Sunday the 19th of July and Monday the 20th are showing tiny, weak swell coming from the SSE with a short, choppy period. The wind is up and cross-onshore, making it a lumpy mess. The combined energy is barely registering (26 to 48), so it’s not worth paddling out.
We get a bit of a wind shift later in the week. From the 25th of July through the 28th, there are some mornings with light offshore or cross-offshore breezes from the SW, WSW, and even NW. The problem is, the swell is tiny – nothing above 1 ft. The wave energy is minimal (8 to 18). It's clean, but there's nothing to ride. The 26th of July (Sunday) morning has a gentle offshore wind and clean conditions, but with only 1 ft from the ENE, it’s a flat, glassy lake.
The end of the first week and into the second week is more of the same. There's a faint hint of a longer period groundswell (8 to 10 seconds) on the 2nd of August, but the height is still only 0.7 ft to 1 ft. The morning of the 2nd of August is glassy, which is a major positive, but again, there's no real swell to work with. The energy finally bumps up to 44 on the afternoon of the 2nd, but that's with a strong cross-onshore wind chopping it up.
To be honest, the whole 16-day window is a blank run. There are no standout days, no real swell to speak of. For a spot like this, it's a pretty normal flat spell. If you're desperate for a paddle, the cleanest windows will be those mornings with light offshore wind, but you'll be sitting on a flat board. For anyone looking for a wave, the setup here is more interesting for a kite than a surfboard right now.
Rusty.
