The Lowdown
Alright, folks, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you about the local surf outlook. We are looking at a quiet stretch ahead for the Jupiter Inlet South Jetty. For the next 16 days, starting now through to the end of the month, there’s just nothing doing. The forecast is a long run of poor surf conditions, and I can’t find a single standout session to get excited about.
Right now, through the end of this week and into the next, the swell is tiny. We’re talking wave heights hovering around 1.0 ft to 3 ft, mostly from the SSE or SE with short, weak periods of 4 to 7 seconds. The combined energy is low, staying between 12 and 41 (weak energy). The water temp is sitting at 86°F, which is about 2°F warmer than normal for this time of year—a little on the toasty side, but nothing wild.
The wind does offer some clean moments. On Thursday morning, July 16th, it’s glassy with a light WNW breeze, but the swell is only 1 ft from the NE with a 7-second period (short period), giving us a combined energy of just 17. That’s flat, not surfable. The same story pops up on the morning of July 22nd and July 27th—glassy conditions with a light SE breeze, but again the swell is tiny, under 3 ft, and weak. It’s clean, but there’s no wave to ride.
For a spot that’s fairly consistent, this blank run is unusual, but forecasts can change. Honestly, for the entire 16-day window, the setup looks more interesting for a paddleboard or a longboard for gliding small ripples than for any real surfing. If you’re a kite surfer, on the afternoons with a moderate cross-onshore breeze and some chop, you might get a tug, but for a surfer, I’d say save your energy.
There’s nothing worth paddling out for right now. Keep an eye on it, but this is a long, quiet stretch.
