The Lowdown
Alright, grab a coffee, let’s look at the next couple of weeks.
First off, I gotta be straight with you—the surf window around here is looking pretty quiet for the foreseeable future. There’s no real standout swell hitting Jupiter Inlet South Jetty for the entire 16-day run. We’re stuck in a low-energy pattern, with wave heights barely tickling 2ft on the best day, and most of the time it’s even smaller than that. The combined wave energy is weak, sitting mostly under 50. It’s going to take patience.
We start off Tuesday July 14th with next to nothing. Wave heights around 0.3ft and a cross-onshore breeze. It’s a flat spell. Wednesday July 15th morning shows a little glimmer of hope—2ft from the NE at 8 seconds, and the wind goes glassy. That’s about as clean as it gets, but with combined energy of just 29, it’s marginal at best. If you’ve got a longboard and low expectations, that Wednesday morning session might give you a few dribblers.
Thursday July 16th and Friday July 17th mornings also offer glassy conditions, but swell drops back to 1.0–1ft. Still, for a quiet paddle and some tiny peelers, those early windows are your best bet. The water temperature is sitting average for this time of year.
By the weekend, Friday July 17th afternoon turns choppy as the wind picks up to 12 mph from the SE, and Saturday gets messy too. Nothing worth rushing for.
We slide into the second week with no real change. From Monday July 20th onward, we’re looking at persistent light cross-onshore breezes or onshores, keeping the surface bumpy. Swell stays small and weak—periods often around 4 to 8 seconds. The longest period we see is 9 seconds on Sunday July 19th, but with only 0.3ft of wave height, that’s not going anywhere.
Towards the end of the month, around Monday July 27th and Tuesday July 28th, there’s a tiny nudge in energy, with combined energy reaching 45 and 43 respectively. But the swell is still only 2ft, onshore winds, and short period. It’s really not surf you’d paddle out for unless you’re desperate.
Honestly, this is a lean spell. The jetty setup is fairly exposed to a NE swell, but there’s simply not enough size or push to make it work. No standouts. No days where you’d cancel plans. The only silver lining is a few glassy morns with knee-high bumps for the dedicated longboard crew.
Keep an eye on the charts, but for now, maybe pull the wax off and give the board a rest.
