Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let me tell you how it's looking for the next couple of weeks.
First off, I gotta be straight with you: the surf situation is pretty grim for the foreseeable future. We're looking at a long stretch of flat, weak waves at Jupiter Inlet South Jetty (Jupiter-Inlet-South-Jetty). The water temperature is sitting at 85°, which is about average for this time of year, so at least a dip in the ocean won't be a shock.
From the very start, on Saturday, July 4th, we've got a tiny 1 ft swell from the NE with a short period of 6 seconds, and the combined energy is a measly (18). That's barely a ripple, and with a risk of thunderstorms and a cross-onshore wind, it's a day to leave the board in the car.
The whole first week, right through to the end of Friday, July 10th, is a washout. The swell never gets above 4 ft, and when it does push a little energy on the 10th (98), it's still a messy, short-period SE windswell with a cross-onshore breeze. The wave comment for every single session reads "poor surf conditions," and it's all scoring a zero. Honestly, the setup looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing with these choppy, onshore conditions.
We get a tiny glimmer of hope on the morning of Saturday, July 11th. The wind goes glassy, and the swell is a clean 3 ft from the SE, but the period is still a weak 5 seconds. It'll be clean, but don't expect any push. It's the closest thing to a highlight in this whole outlook, but it's a quiet one. The crowds are likely to be there on the sand, but probably not in the water.
After that, it's back to the same old story. From Sunday, July 12th, all the way through to Sunday, July 19th, it's a steady diet of tiny swell, onshore or cross-onshore winds, and "poor surf conditions." The swell is mostly from the SE and E, rarely topping 2 ft, and the energy is weak. The afternoons are almost always a risk of thunderstorms.
So, to sum it up: there's not a single standout session in the 16-day window. The best you can hope for is a clean, glassy morning on Saturday, July 11th, with knee-high dribblers. It's a blank run, and for this area, that's not uncommon when the summer pattern sets in. Keep your eyes on the forecasts, because things can change, but for now, it's a long wait.
Rusty.
