The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s cut straight to it. Right now across the entire 16-day window, there’s just not a lot to get excited about. We’re looking at a long, flat spell punctuated only by tiny, weak energy. If you’re desperate for a paddle, there are a couple of days where the conditions might let you sit out there, but don’t expect a wave you’d actually want to stand up on.
The first real chance for anything happens around Saturday morning, August 22nd, at Jupiter Inlet South Jetty. It’s a beach and jetty setup, advanced only. The swell is a tiny 0.7ft out of the ENE with a period of 9 seconds. The combined swell energy is weak, just 8. The wind is a light cross-offshore from the SSW at 3 mph, so the surface will be clean. But honestly, it’s just ankle-biters. No power, no push. It’s better than nothing if you’ve got a foamie and nowhere else to be, but don’t kid yourself. The water temp is about average for this time of year.
We go through a flat and choppy Sunday, then Monday the 24th through Wednesday the 26th is more of the same – tiny onshore slop. It only gets worse by Thursday the 27th. You’ll see a longer 15-second period swell from the NE, but the height is still only 0.3ft. That’s a long-period ghost swell – looks good on paper but doesn't have any height behind it. The combined energy creeps up to 20, but that’s still weak. Wind will mess it up anyway.
The same flat pattern drags through the end of August and into the first week of September. No standouts, no real sets. It’s a proper flat spell. The most promising thing in the whole outlook is Saturday morning, September 5th. A 0.7ft groundswell from the NNE with a 9-second period and a light cross-shore wind from the south at 3 mph. The combined swell energy is a weak 19. Still small, but the wind is light, making it the cleanest window we get. It's not worth driving for, but if you live on the beach, you could get a few tiny peelers.
The very last entry on Sunday, September 6th, is more of the same – marginal, weak energy. There is no real standout quality session in this entire 16-day run. It’s just one of those flat Florida summers.
Rusty.
