The Lowdown
Right, so we're looking at the next few weeks around the Jupiter Inlet South Jetty (Florida). I've gotta be straight with you—this forecast is a tough one. There's a very long stretch ahead where we're just not seeing any decent surf. The wave energy is flat to weak, with values hanging around (7 to 35) for most of the period, and the swell heights are tiny, never really getting above 3 ft. It's a pretty blank run, which can happen here in the summer when there's no tropical activity.
We kick off on Wednesday 15th July with the morning glassy, but the swell is only 2 ft from the NE with a short 8-second period. The combined energy is only (29) and the report says "poor surf conditions," so there's nothing to get excited about.
That sets the tone for days and days. From the 15th right through to the 30th of July, every single session is marked as poor. The swell just doesn't show up. We see a slight bump on the 26th (Sunday) afternoon with the swell reaching 4 ft from the SSE, but that's wind-driven, short-period stuff (5 seconds), and it's coming with a moderate cross-onshore wind making it choppy. Even then, the wave energy only hits (83), which is still weak.
For the entire 16-day window, there isn't a single standout session. Every slot is rated a zero out of ten. The best we get are a few mornings with light offshore or cross-shore winds, like Thursday 16th, Friday 17th, and a couple of others, but with swell heights stuck between 0.3 ft and 1 ft, it's not going to be worth paddling out.
Honestly, this setup looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing on the days the wind picks up, especially when we get that 4 ft bump and a moderate breeze. But for a surfer? It's a case of wait and see. Forecasts can change, and it tends not to stay this poor for too long, but right now, there's nothing I can recommend.
Stay patient,
Rusty
