Table - best surf conditions forecast for Jupiter Inlet South Jetty over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s get straight into it. We’ve got a long 16-day window ahead, and I’ll be honest with you – it’s a real flat spell for Jupiter Inlet South Jetty. The first solid recommendation doesn’t pop up for a while, so we’re looking at a big gap of quiet water before anything worth paddling out for shows up.
Right off the bat, from Friday the 10th through most of the first week, it’s pretty gutless. We’re talking tiny waves around 0.7 ft to 2 ft, mostly from the SE, with short periods of 4-8 seconds, so no real push. The water temp is sitting at 86°, which is about 1° warmer than normal for this time of year down here – feels like a warm bath, but nothing to ride. The combined energy is weak, barely cracking 30-40 (33-40) in the early days, so it’s just a lot of chop and no power. Winds are mostly cross-on from the SE, making things messy. There’s a few glassy moments on Monday the 13th morning and Tuesday the 14th morning, but with swells of 0.3 ft to 0.7 ft, there’s zero to surf. It’s a tough stretch.
The pattern doesn’t really improve much through the middle of the week. Wednesday the 15th and Thursday the 16th have a slight bump in energy – up to 2 ft from the NE, with periods just creeping to 8 seconds, and combined energy around 31-39. Still, the winds are often cross-on or glassy in the mornings, but the waves are too small and weak to get excited about. Friday the 17th morning has a clean cross-off breeze from the SSW, but the swell is only 1 ft – it’s a tease, not a session.
We then hit another flat stretch from Saturday the 18th through to Tuesday the 22nd. Swells are tiny, mostly under 2 ft, with periods as low as 4 seconds. The combined energy drops to single digits or low teens (2-18). There’s a few clean offshore mornings on the 21st and 22nd, but with 0.3 ft to 0.7 ft of swell, it’s not worth waxing up.
Now, the only real standout – and I mean the only one – is on the very tail end of the outlook. Saturday the 25th morning. We finally see a 3 ft swell from the SE, with a period of 5 seconds. The combined energy bumps up to 48, which is still moderate but the best we’ve seen all run. The wind is light and cross from the S, so it’ll be clean with small ripples. This is about as good as it gets in this window, but it’s still a small, short-period windswell – better for a longboard or a funboard, not a performance shortboard. The break is a beach/jetty setup, exposed to the NE, but the swell is coming from the SE, which isn’t the optimum direction. It’s a fairly consistent spot, but often crowded, so expect company if you paddle out.
Overall, this is a pretty grim outlook for Jupiter Inlet South Jetty. If you’re desperate, the 25th is your best bet, but keep your expectations low. For everything else, it’s a flat spell with a few glassy mornings that are only good for a paddle. The second week looks even more sluggish, with nothing to write home about.
Rusty.
