Alright folks, it’s Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you – it’s a tough run ahead for the next couple of weeks. We’ve got Jupiter Inlet South Jetty to look at, and honestly, the swell window is looking pretty darn empty.
Right from the start, through the whole 16-day run, we are stuck with tiny surf and a lot of wind. The wave energy is weak at best, with numbers staying in the single or low double digits for most of the period. There are no standout sessions, no hidden gems, just a long stretch of small, messy conditions.
The first week is especially grim. Sunday the 5th kicks it off with a risk of thunderstorms, an onshore sea breeze, and a tiny 1 ft swell from the southeast at a short 4 seconds – just not doing anything for us. That pattern hangs around. Monday and Tuesday bring some glassy mornings, which is nice to look at, but the swell is a pathetic 0.3 ft to 0.7 ft. You’d be floating more than surfing. The afternoons get choppy with onshore winds picking up to 12 mph. The water's warm though, sitting at 85°, which is about average for this time of year, so at least you won't freeze.
We see a slight bump in combined energy around the 15th and 16th, but the swell height only gets to 2 ft from the northeast. That’s still a knee-high dribbler for the advanced crew only, and the winds are mostly cross or cross-off, so it’s not totally blown out, but there's just no power in the water. The second week, from the 11th onward, is much the same story. A few clean mornings here and there with offshore breezes, like Monday the 13th and Wednesday the 15th, but the swell is still 0.7 ft to 2 ft. It’s frustrating.
Bottom line: there’s nothing here to get excited about. If you’re a beginner, you might get a few ankle-biters on the glassy mornings. For anyone else, it’s a long flat spell where you’re better off waiting for the next system. The jetty needs a proper push of north-east swell to wake up, and we just don’t see it.
Hang in there. Forecasts can change.
