Table - best surf conditions forecast for Jupiter Inlet South Jetty over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here again, but this time in feet and miles. Look, I gotta be honest – the next couple of weeks are a total bummer for surf. The whole 16-day stretch is a flat spell, and there’s nothing worth paddling out for. We’re looking at a long run of days with no real surf on offer.
Starting Wednesday, July 8th, the swell is tiny, only about 2ft from the SSE, with a short period of 4 seconds – that’s just wind chop, no power. The wind is a cross-onshore at 15 mph, so it’s choppy and messy. The combined energy of all swells is only 17 (weak), so there’s no punch. Water temp is about 86°F, which is a bit warmer than usual for this time of year, but nothing crazy.
Thursday the 9th, Friday the 10th, Saturday the 11th, Sunday the 12th – same story. Swell heights barely get above 2ft, periods are short, and the wind is cross-onshore from the SE or ESE. The combined energy stays weak, never cracking 40. All poor surf conditions, zero scores.
We get a little bump on Wednesday, July 15th, with the swell trying to push 2ft from the NE and a period of 8 seconds. The combined energy hits 70, still weak but the highest we’ll see. But the wind is still cross-onshore in the afternoon, and onshore in the morning. Poor surf conditions.
The end of the run, from July 18th to the 23rd, has some cleaner windows with offshore winds, like Sunday the 19th morning with a 2ft SSE swell and a light offshore from the WSW. But the swell is still tiny, the period is only 4 seconds, and the energy is just 14. It’s clean but flat. You might get a ripple, but it’s not a rideable wave.
There is no standout. No best day. The whole period is a washout. The breaks here are usually fairly consistent, so this is a rough patch, but it won’t last forever. Forecasts can change. For now, leave the board at home.
Jupiter Inlet South Jetty (Jupiter-Inlet-South-Jetty) is our only spot, and it’s a beach/jetty setup that’s fairly exposed to swell, but with nothing coming, it’s just a sandy shore. With the strong wind and poor surf, this setup looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing. It’s just not happening.
Stay patient, keep an eye on things, and hopefully we’ll get a pulse of swell. This is Rusty, signing off.
