The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on offer for the next couple of weeks. To be straight with you, it's a pretty bleak run for Forjos. The whole 16-day outlook is a long stretch of poor surf conditions with nothing I'd call a standout. From now right through to the end of the month, every session is rated as poor. That's a solid two-week gap with no decent surf.
The core issue is the wind. We've got persistent moderate to fresh cross-onshore and onshore breezes from the east and southeast, which is just chopping everything up. The swell is hanging around in the 4ft to 6ft range, mostly from the ESE, with a short period of 7-8 seconds. There's a bit of a boost on the 20th of September with a longer period 12-second S swell pushing the combined energy up to 705, but even then the wind is cross-onshore, so it's still messy. On the 18th, we see the biggest swell of the period at 6ft from the ESE, but with a 7-second period and onshore wind at 19 mph, it's just a blown-out mess. For a beginner-friendly spot like Forjos, any swell over 5ft is already getting big, so that day is a write-off for learners. Overall, wave energy is mostly moderate (207-572) but unusable.
This is a tough one. With all that onshore wind and chop, a beach setup like Forjos looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing right now. We’re in a poor run, but forecasts can change. Hang tight.
