Table - best surf conditions forecast for Forjos over the next 16 days.
Wednesday, July 8th kicks things off, but it ain't pretty. The morning has a touch of swell at 0.8m from the south with a long period, but the wind is cross-onshore and the combined wave energy is moderate (664). Come afternoon, it’s a little bigger at 1.0m from the south, but the wind turns onshore and makes a mess of things. You’ll be looking at a lot of chop and not much fun.
Thursday, July 9th through the weekend, the swell picks up a bit, hanging around 1.2m to 1.3m from the south-southeast. The period is decent, but the problem is the wind. It’s consistently cross-onshore, creating a bumpy, choppy surface that’ll fight you the whole way. The energy stays moderate (554-699), but the surf quality is just poor.
The whole of the following week, from Monday, July 13th right through to Thursday, July 23rd, is a grim slog. Swells are all over the place, from small 0.7m to a slightly bigger 1.4m later on, but it doesn’t matter. The wind is relentless—cross-shore and cross-onshore, with moderate breezes that keep the sea lumpy. The water temperature is about 27°C, which is pretty normal for this time of year, so that’s one small comfort. But with every day showing “poor surf conditions” and the energy values mostly sitting between 198 and 485 for the most part, there’s just nothing to get excited about.
For Forjos, a beginner-friendly break that’s very consistent, this is a real dry spell. The crowds might wander off with a run like this, but there’s no silver lining here. This setup right now is better for a kite surfer than anyone trying to paddle into a clean wave. Keep your gear ready, but don’t hold your breath—this is one of those blank runs that can feel normal for the area, and the forecasts can always change.
