Alright, Rusty here again, but this time in feet, knots, and Fahrenheit for you lot.
Let's look at what the next couple of weeks are serving up at Embare.
We've got a slow start on the cards, with a proper standout window later that you want to have marked. The first week is mostly about patience – Sunday 5th July is the only real clean session worth mentioning. After that, we hit a long, quiet, onshore stretch with nothing really rideable for nearly a week.
Water temp is about 69°F, right where you'd expect it for this time of year. No anomalies.
First decent call: Sunday 5th July morning. Glassy conditions, a 1.3m (4ft) south swell with a long 12-second period. Combined energy is moderate at 480. The wind is offshore from the SSW at just 5km/h (3 knots). That means clean, lined-up waves. Crowds are "sometimes," so you might have a few out but nothing crazy. This is your pick of the first week.
Monday 6th July morning stays glassy but the swell drops to 1.0m (3ft). Still surfable, but a step down.
From Tuesday 7th July through to Saturday 11th July, it's all small, messy, and onshore – a full week of junk. Waves under 0.6m (2ft) and poor surf flags everywhere.
Monday 13th July morning gives a clean offshore from the north at 10km/h (6 knots), but the swell is tiny at 0.4m (1ft) and the energy is just 85. Barely worth a paddle.
Now, the big highlight: Friday 17th July morning brings a solid 1.9m (6ft) south-southeast swell with a very long 16-second period. Combined energy jumps to 1847 – that's strong. But wind is 15km/h (9 knots) cross-onshore from the southwest, so it'll be lumpy and challenging. That size is expert territory, and with the wind, this might be more fun for the kite surfers than paddle surfers.
Then Saturday 18th July – this is the one. Morning has a 1.1m (4ft) south swell (13 seconds) with clean cross-offshore wind from the east-northeast at 10km/h (6 knots). Energy is 510. Afternoon goes even better – glassy, 0.9m (3ft) south swell with a very long 14-second period and energy at 535. That's the dream window – two clean, beautiful sessions.
Sunday 19th July morning throws in a 2.1m (7ft) east swell at just 8 seconds – a short-period windswell. Glassy, clean, energy is 917, but it's expert territory and dumpy. Get it early; the afternoon goes onshore and rainy.
Bottom line: Sunday 5th July morning is a nice little clean session, but the one to really get stoked for is Saturday 18th July – both morning and especially that glassy afternoon. That's the pick of the whole 16-day window.
Rusty.
