The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here. Let's get straight to it.
This 16-day run for Coqueiros is a tough one to swallow. From the get-go, right through Saturday the 8th, we’ve got weak, short-period waves (combined energy values between 74 and 164) and every single session is blown out by a cross-onshore or onshore breeze. It’s choppy, messy, and a total scratch-fest.
Then we hit a flat spell from Tuesday the 11th through Thursday the 13th where the combined energy drops into the 40s and 80s – barely a bump.
The only flicker of hope is way out at the tail end. On Monday the 17th of August, the afternoon shows a jump to 1.9m from the NE, with a combined energy of 296. That’s the biggest, most powerful surf of the whole period. But with that period stuck at a short 6 seconds and the wind screaming straight onshore, it’s going to be a bumpy, raw, powerful mess. That’s strictly for experts, and even then it’s not clean.
The water temp is a warm 28.1° – a touch warmer than average for the time of year.
Bottom line, every single slot here is marked as “poor surf conditions.” There’s no standout for a clean paddle session. That bigger, onshore pulse on the 17th afternoon might be more up the alley for the kite surfers looking for some juice.
It’s a quiet stretch, folks. Keep your eyes on the long-range charts, things can change fast.
