Table - best surf conditions forecast for Coombesgate Beach over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let's get straight into it.
To be honest, mate, the next 16 days are looking pretty grim. We’ve got a real flat spell on the horizon, so don’t bother dusting off the big boards just yet. There’s basically nothing on the cards for the entire first week, and it doesn't get much better after that.
The water at Coombesgate Beach is sitting at a noticeable 62°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, but that’s about the only positive.
We start off with a few tiny, weak pulses. Tuesday the 7th and Wednesday the 8th have some waist-high slop at best, but the wind is either onshore or cross-onshore, so it’s messy and choppy. The combined energy is very weak, like 30 to 40 (weak energy). Not worth a paddle.
Thursday morning the 9th looks glassy, which is a tease, but the swell is still a pathetic 1 ft. It’s clean but tiny. After that, the wind goes all over the shop, but the swell never gets going. Friday and Saturday have some cleaner cross-off winds, but the swell is still small and weak.
Then from Sunday the 12th onwards, we hit a proper dead zone. The swell drops to 0.3 ft or 0.7 ft, some of it with ridiculously long periods from the SW (16 to 21 seconds), but there’s no height to speak of. The combined energy is in the single digits or low teens. This is a full-on flat spell that lasts right through to the 20th of July. The wind is often strong and cross-off, which would be great for a kite, but for a surfboard, it’s a total write-off.
There’s a tiny flicker on the 21st of July, Tuesday afternoon, where the swell bumps up to 2 ft with a short 5-second period, but the wind is onshore. It’s still poor.
So, the honest truth? There are no standout days, no hidden gems, no best on offer. Don't bother. It’s a blank run for the next 16 days. For this area, it’s not unusual to get a long stretch of nothing, so don’t let it get you down. Check back in a few days; the forecasts can change.
Rusty.
