Table - best surf conditions forecast for Coombesgate Beach over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what’s on the table for the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, mate, this one’s a tough sit. The outlook for Coombesgate Beach is looking pretty flat and uninspiring for a solid stretch. The overall pattern is a long period of minimal swell and less-than-ideal conditions, so don't expect much for a while.
We kick off on Wednesday, the 8th of July, with tiny waves. The morning sees a small west swell at 1ft, period 9 seconds, and glassy conditions with light WNW winds. It’s clean, but the combined energy is weak at just 23, so it’s barely breaking. The afternoon is a write-off with onshore wind. Thursday the 9th and Friday the 10th offer similar tiny west swells between 1ft and 2ft, but the wind is messy and the energy stays low (30 to 57). It really is all poor surf conditions.
From Saturday the 11th right through until Monday the 20th of July, the swell drops into the gutter – we’re looking at waves from 0.3ft to 1.0ft. The combined energy values are rarely cracking double digits, hitting as low as 4 and 6. There are a few mornings like the 15th and 19th with clean, offshore conditions, but there’s simply no swell to work with. Winds get strong too, with a near gale on the morning of the 15th and strong breezes making it unpleasant.
The last couple of days of the forecast, around the 21st to 23rd, show a slight bump but the period is short (4-6 seconds) or the wind is onshore and lumpy. The swell height barely touches 1ft again, with the combined energy still very weak. The groundswell on the 22nd and 23rd has a longer period (10-11 seconds), but with only 0.3ft to 0.7ft of swell, it's completely flat.
There's simply no standout session here. The whole 16-day window is a blank run for a surfer. With the break being a beach and reef, and with such consistent flatness and poor wind on the rare bits of energy, it’s more of a stretch for the kiteboarders than for anyone with a paddleboard. We’ll just have to wait for the charts to change.
Rusty.
