Table - best surf conditions forecast for Coombesgate Beach over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the cards for the next couple of weeks.
To be brutally honest, it's a bit of a flat spell for the foreseeable future. We're looking at a long stretch of very small, weak waves with poor conditions. The first decent surfable option doesn't appear until the very end of the 16-day window, so we've got a big gap with no real recommendations before that.
The best, and really only, standout on offer is Coombesgate Beach on the morning of Friday, 24 July. We're seeing a small bump of swell from the west, coming in at about 2 feet with a period of 7 seconds. The combined swell energy is a measly 43 – weak, no doubt. The wind is going to be a cross-off from the WSW, which is about as good as it gets for this place, meaning it'll be clean if not particularly powerful. It's a beach and reef setup, fairly consistent, and the conditions should be clean with that gentle breeze. It's a beginner-friendly spot, so perfect for a longboard or a foamie. Crowds are sometimes an issue here, so you might have some company. Honestly, for the whole outlook, this is the only window where the conditions line up with even a little bit of swell. The water is about average for this time of year.
The rest of the period is a write-off. The swell is tiny, often under 1 foot, and the wind is either strong, cross-on, or onshore, making it choppy and lumpy. From the 10th of July right through to the 24th, you're looking at "poor surf conditions" day after day. There's a bit of a weird spike in long-period swell (20-21 seconds) on the 12th and 13th, but it's only 0.3 feet to 0.6 feet, so it's completely flat. The energy readings are all in the single digits or low twenties, which tells you everything you need to know. It's a tough run.
So, chalk it up as a loss for the most part. The only day to even bother checking is the morning of the 24th. Might be a fun little session on a log.
Rusty.
