Table - best surf conditions forecast for Coombesgate Beach over the next 16 days.
Alright, pull up a stump and listen close. Rusty here, and I gotta be straight with ya – the next couple of weeks at Coombesgate Beach are lookin' real flat, real quiet. It's like the ocean went on holiday and forgot to leave a forwarding address.
The whole 16-day forecast is a long stretch of tiny, weak waves with poor conditions. We’ve got a solid run of "poor surf conditions" stamped all over it, from the start right up until the 22nd of July. For over a week and a half, you’re lookin' at swell heights mostly under 1ft. The combined energy is down in the dumps, barely crackin' double digits most days – we're talkin' 10 or 20 (weak) most of the time. The wind is often cross-off, which would be great if there was any swell to work with, but there isn't. It’s a real bummer.
The water is about average for the time of year.
Now, there's a flicker of hope. On the morning of Wednesday, the 22nd of July, things finally get a pulse. We see a jump to a 4.9ft swell from the west (230 moderate combined energy). The wind is a gentle breeze from the east-northeast, blowin' cross-off. It's still only a 7-second period, but the conditions are clean and it's labeled "surfable waves but very ordinary conditions". It's the best lookin' window we've got, but for a beach-and-reef setup, those short-period waves won't have much push or shape. Thursday the 23rd morning sees a 3.3ft west pulse with offshore wind from the east-southeast, which cleans it right up, but that 6-second period is a real short-chop, nothin' to get excited about.
Look, there’s not a single standout day here. The conditions never really come together. None of these are beginner-friendly for the most part because the swell is tiny, and when it gets near 4.9ft on the 22nd it's pickin' up a bit but still a far cry from a proper session. There are no gems to dig for. It’s a long, lean spell, and for an area like this, a blank run like this happens. Forecasts can change, so keep an eye out, but honestly? Right now, I'd be checkin' the wind forecast for a kite, because this setup right now looks more interesting for a kite session than a proper paddle.
Hang in there.
