Table - best surf conditions forecast for Boneyards over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s chew the fat on what’s coming for Boneyards.
Boneyards is a reef break, and it’s inconsistent, so when it fires, you gotta be on it. The water is about 60°F, which is normal for the season, so no extra rubber needed.
The weekend kicks off with some size but the wind is howling out of the ESE at 19 mph. That’s offshore, keeping the waves clean, but the swell is 7 ft from the SSW with a 12-second period. The combined energy is strong (1363), and it’s a reef, so this is for the experienced only. It’s too big for beginners, and the crowds can pop up sometimes.
Saturday afternoon drops a little to 6 ft, still clean. Not a standout, but a decent session.
Sunday morning, July 12th, is where it gets real sweet. The wind drops to a gentle 9 mph offshore, the swell eases to a more friendly 4 ft from the SSW, with an 11-second period. The energy is moderate (548), and the conditions are labeled “very good.” This is the pick of the early days – clean, manageable, and fun.
Monday and Tuesday are pretty ordinary. Wednesday morning, July 15th, is a dud, but Wednesday afternoon? That’s a big spike. The swell jumps to 10 ft from the SW with a very long 16-second period – that’s proper groundswell. The energy is huge (3570), and the wind is a light cross-offshore. This is excellent for experienced surfers only. Anything over 8 ft on a reef is expert territory.
Thursday, July 16th, keeps the size around 10 ft, dropping to 8 ft by afternoon, still with good period. Winds are light, so it’s clean. More good stuff for the experienced.
Friday, July 17th, sees the wind crank up – strong offshore at 28 mph in the morning. The swell is 12 ft from the SSW. It’s clean, but paddling in is a fight. The energy is massive (3432). This is hardcore, expert-only.
The real standout in the whole window is Saturday, July 18th. The swell drops to a solid 6 ft from the SW with a 14-second period, the wind is a light cross-offshore, and the energy is still strong (1443). The conditions are “excellent.” This is that sweet spot – fun size, light wind, high quality. If you can pick one day, this is it.
After that, it gets messy. The week starting July 19th is a write-off – strong onshore winds, rain, and messy waves. That run lasts through until around July 23rd.
Thursday, July 23rd, afternoon brings a bit of hope. The wind goes glassy, and the swell is a solid 8 ft from the SW with a 14-second period. The energy is strong (2185), and conditions are “excellent.” Another quality window for the experienced.
July 24th and 25th both have solid, clean conditions with offshore or light winds, and swell around 7 ft to 8 ft from the SW. Good energy, clean faces. The 25th morning looks particularly nice.
July 26th wraps it up with clean conditions, but the wind starts to build again.
So, the two standouts: Sunday morning, July 12th, for the best all-rounder with clean, moderate swell, and Saturday, July 18th, for the best quality, light wind, and solid power. The big stuff mid-week is for experts only.
Stay sharp, and don’t sleep on that 18th.
