Table - best surf conditions forecast for Boneyards over the next 16 days.
Righto, let’s have a look at what’s on offer for the next couple of weeks. The standout here is Boneyards, a reef setup that’s usually pretty inconsistent, so when it does fire, it’s a special thing. The water temp is sitting at 59.9°, which is pretty much what you’d expect for this time of year, so no surprises there.
The first real action kicks off Sunday morning, July 12. Swell’s coming in at 4.3ft from the SSW, with a period of 11 seconds, and the wind is offshore from the ESE at 9 mph. That’s a recipe for clean, lined-up waves. The combined energy is moderate at 548. It’s not huge, but the conditions are spot on. Sunday afternoon holds similar vibes, though the wind backs off a touch and goes cross-offshore, still clean but a bit less punchy.
Monday, July 13, is a quiet one. The swell drops right down to 2.6ft from the SSW, period drops to 10 seconds. The morning is glassy, which is lovely, but the energy is weak (192) and the waves are pretty ordinary. Still, if you just want to get wet, you could.
Tuesday, July 14, is a write-off. The swell is small, wind is cross-on or onshore, energy is low. Honestly, don’t bother.
Now, Wednesday, July 15, things start to get interesting. The morning shows a 4.9ft swell from the SW, but the period is a massive 17 seconds – that’s long-period groundswell, proper energy. The combined energy jumps to 1493 (moderate). The wind is cross-on, so it’s a bit messy, but that power is there. The afternoon sees the swell jump to 9.8ft, period 15 seconds, energy roaring to 4683. But the wind is cross-shore, and the tide or conditions are questionable. This is getting big, and at 9.8ft, it’s expert territory, especially on a reef. The long period also means it’ll be breaking straight at beach breaks, but Boneyards is a reef, so it should handle the direction better.
Thursday, July 16, stays big – 8.2ft from the SW, period 13 seconds, energy 2417 in the morning. But the wind is cross-on, so it’s not clean. The afternoon is similar, onshore wind. Not great for quality.
Friday, July 17, is a mixed bag. The swell is still 8.2ft from the SW, period 11 seconds, energy 1585 in the morning. The wind is cross-offshore from the SE at 16 mph, so it’s clean, but that’s a stiff breeze. The afternoon gets better – offshore wind at 22 mph, same swell, energy 1921. That’s fresh offshore, which will groom the waves, but it’s also strong enough to make paddling a battle. This is big, clean, but for experienced surfers only.
Saturday, July 18, the swell drops to 7.2ft, period 13 seconds, energy 1707. The morning wind is light and cross-shore, not ideal. The afternoon is onshore. Not the best.
Sunday, July 19, we get a bit of a reset. The swell is down to 3.6ft from the SW, period 12 seconds, energy 388. The morning is glassy – that’s a chance for a clean, fun session on the smaller waves. The afternoon has a cross-offshore wind, clean, energy 505. Decent.
