Alright, Rusty here, giving you the local scoop on the only break worth talking about for the next 16 days.
We’ve got a slow start, but the first real session hits on Monday, July 6th. The spot is Boneyards, a reef break that’s inconsistent, so it doesn’t fire up every day. When it does, it’s for the intermediate crowd.
The water temp is 58.3°F, which is about 2.2°F cooler than the long-term average for this time of year—a bit of a chill in the water, so you’ll want the extra rubber.
Monday morning delivers a 7.5ft swell from the WSW, with a 11-second period. The combined energy is strong (1331), but the wind is a light cross-shore from the north at 3 mph. It’s a little messy. The real standout is Monday afternoon: the wind goes glassy out of the west at 3 mph, and the swell cleans up to 5.6ft. That’s the pick of the first day—clean, glassy, and sweet for experienced surfers.
Tuesday, July 7th, gets a bit lumpy. The swell picks up to 6.9ft in the morning and 7.5ft in the afternoon from the SW, with a long period of 12 to 13 seconds. But the wind is cross-on from the north, so it’s not as clean. The energy is strong (1510 to 1957), but the conditions are marginal.
Wednesday, July 8th, is a mixed bag. The morning has a 7.9ft SW swell with a 13-second period and offshore wind from the WNW at 3 mph. That’s promising, but the combined energy jumps to 2751—very strong. The afternoon gets a bit cleaner with a cross-offshore wind from the SSE, but it’s blowing 12 mph. The energy is right up there at 3004, but it’s a bit on the wild side.
The real standout of the whole outlook? Thursday, July 9th. We’ve got a solid 9.8ft swell from the SSW, with a 14-second period—that’s a long-period groundswell with tons of energy (3195). The wind is a fresh offshore from the SE at 22 mph, keeping it clean. This is big, powerful, and for experts only. The afternoon is similar but with a 13-second period and cross-offshore wind, still clean but not quite as good.
Friday, July 10th, keeps the swell going with 9.8ft in the morning and 7.9ft in the afternoon, both from the SSW. The wind is offshore from the SE at 19 mph, so it’s clean, but the energy drops from 2729 to 1861. The size is still big for the morning.
By Saturday, July 11th, the swell drops to 5.9ft in the morning and 5.6ft in the afternoon, with a 12-second period. The wind is still offshore from the SE at 19-22 mph. The energy is moderate (1008 to 861). It’s a smaller, cleaner day for those who want something a bit more manageable.
Sunday, July 12th, the swell goes down to 3.9ft with a 11-second period and a light cross-offshore wind. The energy is weak (477). It’s clean but small.
Then we hit a dry spell. From Monday, July 13th through to Wednesday, July 15th, the swell drops to knee-high (1.6ft to 4.3ft), the wind is cross-on and blows hard (9 to 19 mph), making it choppy and poor. The energy is weak (206 to 505). That’s a stretch of 3 days with nothing worth paddling out for.
Things start to look up again on Thursday, July 16th. The morning brings a 7.2ft SW swell with an 11-second period and a light offshore wind from the ESE. The energy is moderate (1258). The afternoon is the real standout: a 9.8ft SW swell with a 12-second period, offshore wind from the SE at 6 mph, and energy at 2344. That’s another big day for the experts, with clean, powerful surf.
Friday, July 17th, is a drop-off with an 8.2ft morning swell but a cross-on wind from the NW at 9 mph, making it choppy. The afternoon is smaller at 4.9ft.
Saturday and Sunday, July 18th and 19th, look better. Saturday has 4.9ft to 5.6ft swells from the WSW with a cross-offshore wind, and Sunday is the real gem: a 7.5ft swell from the WSW with a 13-second period, offshore wind from the ESE at 9 mph, and energy at 1731. That’s clean, solid, and one of the best late-period options.
After that, Monday, July 20th, and Tuesday, July 21st,
