Table - best surf conditions forecast for Boneyards over the next 16 days.

Alright, let me break this down for you. I’m looking at Boneyards – it’s a reef break, and it’s one of those inconsistent spots that only fires when everything lines up. The swell direction is key here – it really needs that west in the swell to work, and we’ve got a solid run of south-southwest to west-southwest energy coming through. Water temp is 61°, which is right on the money for this time of year, so no drama there.

First real window is Saturday, July 11th. Morning session you’ve got a 6-foot swell from the south-southwest, with a 12-second period – that’s got some punch. Wind is offshore from the east-southeast at 15 mph, so the waves will be clean and lined up. Combined energy reads 1172 – moderate, but enough to get the reef working. This is a bit much for beginners though – anything over 5 feet starts getting serious, and this is pushing 6 feet, so you’ll want some experience. Crowds can show up here sometimes, but with an inconsistent spot like this, only the locals who know it will be there. Saturday afternoon holds similar at 6 feet with the same offshore breeze.

Then Sunday the 12th of July, morning is the real gem. Wind goes glassy – just 3 mph from the east, practically flat calm – with a 4-foot swell from the south-southwest at an 11-second period. Combined energy drops to 536, but with those conditions it’s going to be smooth, clean, and perfect for a longer board. This is the smallest, cleanest window in the whole run – the water will be like a mirror. After that, the surf drops off into a quiet patch through the middle of next week.

We hit a gap from Monday the 13th through Wednesday the 15th where the swell falls below 3 feet and the wind turns cross-onshore and strong – not worth the paddle. Then it builds again around Thursday the 16th with a 6-foot west-southwest swell and clean wind, though the conditions aren’t screaming.

Now, the one to circle on your calendar is Friday the 17th of July. Morning session: 7 feet from the south-southwest, 12-second period, offshore east wind at 12 mph. This is the standout of the second week – clean, solid, and the energy is 1202. It’s big enough to keep the beginners off, but for an intermediate surfer who knows the reef, it’s going to be firing. Friday afternoon it drops a touch to 6 feet with lighter winds, still clean.

Another gap of a few days until Monday the 21st of July, when a strong south-southwest groundswell rolls in at 8 feet with a 14-second period. That’s long-period energy, and combined it’s reading 2552 – moderate to strong. Wind is light offshore from the east-southeast, so it’ll be clean, but that period is proper long – it’ll peel nicely on the reef but might close out the beach breaks. Tuesday the 22nd of July gets bigger – 12 feet from the south-southwest with a 16-second period, combined energy of 6132, which is strong. But the wind is cross-onshore, so while there’s a ton of water moving, it’s going to be lumpy and not the cleanest. That size is purely for experts, and the crowd will be thin given the conditions.

So, if you want the cleanest, most user-friendly waves, hit Sunday morning the 12th of July – glassy, small but fun, and the reef will hold it. For a proper, punchy session with some size, Friday the 17th of July morning is your best bet, with a clean offshore and solid swell. The long-range stuff at the end looks promising but less certain – keep an eye on it.

Rusty.
