Updates in  hr  min  s Forecast update imminent

Alright folks, Rusty here with a look at the upcoming swell window at Boca do Poco. Gotta be straight with you – it’s a tough stretch ahead. This is a point break that’s fairly consistent, but the conditions are lining up against us for the most part.

Right now, the water’s sitting at a warm 83°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year.

The first real glimmer of hope, and it’s the only one worth talking about, lands on Sunday morning, July 5th. We’ve got some rain showers passing through, but don’t let that put you off. The wind is a light cross-offshore breeze from the SE at 12 mph, which should keep things clean. Swell is coming in at 4 ft from the NE with a period of 8 seconds. The combined energy of all the swells is moderate at 324. It’s not huge, but it’s the best the charts are offering. The wind is light and clean, which is a massive positive for this spot.

After that little window, things go flat and messy again. The rest of July through to the 18th is a write-off. The wind sticks mostly onshore or cross-shore, the swell stays short period and weak, and the wave comment is consistently “poor surf conditions.” The energy values drop way down, often below 200, and the period is short at 6 seconds. Just not worth paddling out for.

So, if you’re keen, get out there Sunday morning while it lasts, because it’s a long dry spell after that.

Rusty.
