Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you – the Aracaju region is looking pretty grim for the next 16 days. I’m looking at the whole forecast, and honestly, there’s not a single session in that entire window I’d call good. We’ve got a long stretch of poor surf conditions right through, with no real standout windows.
The first record shows Monday, July 6th, with a tiny 2ft swell from the SE, period of 8 seconds, and a cross-on wind. The energy is weak (88). That sets the tone. Through the first week, it’s all small, weak, and wind-affected. The swell never really gets above 4ft, and the wind is always onshore or cross-onshore, making it choppy and messy. The combined energy stays mostly in the low to mid hundreds, which is weak to moderate at best.
For the second week, starting around July 13th, things actually get worse. The swell gets a bit bigger, but the wind picks up too, and the period drops. On July 17th, we see a 5ft swell from the SE, but it’s hammered by a fresh 22 mph cross-on wind. The energy jumps to 513, but it’s all wind chop – terrible for surfing. That’s a day for kite surfers, not paddle surfers, especially at a beach setup like Aracaju.
The end of the window, July 19th to 21st, is more of the same: onshore winds, short period swells, and poor ratings. The entire 16 days is a blank run for us. For a spot like Aracaju, this kind of extended poor run is more normal than you’d hope. The best you can say is that the water temp is about average for the time of year, but that’s cold comfort when there’s nothing to ride. Hold tight, mate. Forecasts can change, but right now, it’s a skip.
Rusty.
