Table - best surf conditions forecast for Aracaju over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, it’s Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you about Aracaju.
To be honest, the next 16 days are looking pretty grim for quality surf. The whole stretch is a write-off with no recommended sessions. We’re looking at a solid block from Friday the 10th of July right through to Saturday the 25th of July, and there isn’t a single window where the conditions come together for a decent paddle.
The swell is present, but it’s constantly fighting against onshore and cross-onshore winds. The waves are small, messy, and choppy. For a beach break setup like Aracaju, that’s a recipe for frustration. The wind is all over the shop – from the ESE, SE, and even S – but it rarely gives us a clean, offshore moment. The only break on offer here is Aracaju itself, and it’s an exposed, beginner-friendly spot that’s fairly consistent, but that doesn’t help when the quality is this poor.
We do see a pulse of moderate combined swell energy on the 16th and 17th, with readings hitting 512 and 530, but it’s accompanied by a strong, lumpy cross-onshore wind from the SSE at 19 mph. The swell is 5 ft with a period around 11 seconds, which should have some shape, but the wind just ruins any chance of a clean face. The water temp is about average for the time of year, so no surprises there.
The rest of the period is a rinse and repeat: small swell, poor wind, and the wave comment is always “poor surf conditions.” There’s a brief moment of lighter wind on the 13th, but the swell drops to 2 ft, so it’s just not worth it. The combined energy values are mostly in the low to moderate range (72 to 555), but with the constant onshore flow, it’s more of a kite-surfing setup than a paddler’s paradise.
It’s a tough outlook, but keep your eyes peeled. Forecasts can change, and this area is fairly consistent, so it tends not to stay this poor for long. For now, though, I’d leave the boards in the car.
Rusty.
