Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what Aracaju’s got cookin’.
Straight up, I gotta be honest with you – this stretch is lookin’ pretty flat and rough for most of the next two and a half weeks. We’ve got a solid block of poor conditions from now all the way through to the morning of Friday, July 17th. That’s a proper dry spell. The swell is tiny, mostly around 1.0 ft to 3 ft, coming from the southeast and south-southeast with a mix of short and mid-period energy, but the wind is just constantly on it or cross-on, making a mess of things. The combined swell energy barely cracks triple digits a lot of the time, so it’s weak to moderate at best – not enough punch to overcome the chop.
The first real glimmer of hope doesn’t show up until Friday the 17th in the morning. That morning we get a rare moment of glassy conditions, with the wind dropping to zero. The swell is still tiny, only about 1 ft from the SSE, and it’s a bit weak, but for a beginner-friendly spot like Aracaju, that flat, clean surface is actually your best chance to get a few grovelly rides when it’s otherwise dead. The description says “surfable waves but very ordinary conditions,” which feels about right – it’s not gonna blow your mind, but it’s the only window where you don’t have the wind ruining it.
After that, it’s back into the doldrums. The following days stay small, with the wind picking back up onshore and cross-onshore, and the swell staying in the 1.0 ft to 2 ft range through to the end of the outlook on Monday the 20th.
Honestly, nothing here is a standout. If you’re desperate, that Friday morning is the pick of a very average bunch, but don’t expect much more than a slide on a longboard or a foamie. The water temp is about average for the time of year, nothing wild to report there. For a beach setup like Aracaju, a blank run like this is actually pretty normal – sometimes the ocean just pulls the plug for a while.
Rusty.
