Table - best surf conditions forecast for Aracaju over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Gotta be straight with you – the next couple of weeks are looking pretty grim for a proper paddle. The models are showing a whole lot of nothing good for a while, and when the swell does pop, the conditions just aren't playing ball.
Right off the bat, we’ve got a big gap. There’s no worthwhile surf to speak of from now all the way through to the 13th of July. The energy is way too weak and the wind is just wrong, mostly onshore or cross-onshore, making a mess of things.
The first chance to even think about a surf comes on Tuesday morning, the 14th of July, at Aracaju. It’s a marginal window. We’re looking at a little 2 ft swell from the S, but the period is a solid 15 seconds, which is a very long period groundswell. That means the energy is there but it’s gonna be lining up straight and fast, making it tricky on a beach break. The wind is light cross-shore, so there’ll be some ripples on the surface. The water temp is about 80°, which is right about average for this time of year - feels normal. Honestly, this one’s a long shot and only for the most dedicated. After that, it’s back to poor surf with onshore winds for days.
The next real pulse comes in around the 19th and 20th of July, but it’s a shame to see it. The swell height builds to 4 ft on the 20th from the ESE, but the period drops to a pathetic 7 seconds. That’s short period, weak windswell, and with the wind staying onshore, it’s just going to be a messy, choppy whitewash. The energy is moderate but the quality won’t be there. It’s the kind of setup that looks more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing.
The tail end of the forecast, around the 21st and 22nd of July, finally shows some size. Swell is pumping 5 ft from the ESE with a period of 8 seconds. That’s a moderate swell, and the combined energy is strong. But again, the wind is directly onshore and the period is short – it’s all windswell. For the experienced crew, you might find some lumpy, powerful waves, but it’s not going to be clean. The water will be a mess.
So, the honest truth is, there’s no standout session in this 16-day window. The one day that had the best chance (the 14th) was marginal, and the bigger swells are ruined by the wind. It’s gonna be a flat and poor stretch, so keep your gear ready and hope the forecasts change. As it stands, it’s a blank run.
Rusty.
