Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what the surf's doing for our local spot, Adraga, over the next couple of weeks.
Right now, things are looking pretty flat and grim. The first week is a bit of a write-off, I’m sorry to say. From Monday the 6th right through to Saturday the 11th, we’ve got tiny, weak swell with poor conditions. The wind is mostly cross-onshore or onshore, making it choppy and messy. The swell energy is weak, barely hitting a hundred for most of that time, so honestly, don’t bother paddling out. It’s a long stretch of nothing.
We finally see a tiny glimmer on Sunday the 12th of July. The morning session is the only thing worth talking about. A light SSW cross-offshore breeze will keep the surface clean, with a 3ft swell from the WNW, period of 9 seconds, and the energy is starting to build moderately (174). It’ll be surfable, but just very ordinary. For a break that’s fairly consistent, this is a disappointment.
After that little tease, it’s back to poor surf for days. The winds stay bad, and the swell is all over the place. We get a bit of size on Friday the 17th, with the swell picking up to 5ft (energy hitting 309), but the wind is a fresh cross-onshore, making it lumpy and ugly. Not a good look.
The biggest swells of the forecast show up at the very end, around Sunday the 19th and Monday the 20th. We’re looking at 7ft to 7ft from the NNW, with strong wave energy (420 to 517). But here's the kicker – the wind is onshore, the period is a short 7 to 8 seconds, and the conditions are described as poor. That much size with onshore wind is going to be a messy, blown-out wall. For this beach and reef setup, it might be more interesting for kite surfing than for us paddle surfers.
So to wrap it up, there are no standouts in this outlook. The best you’re going to get is a very ordinary, clean-ish surf on Sunday the 12th morning. The rest of the run is a write-off.
Rusty.
