The Lowdown
Alright mate, let’s talk Adraga. It’s been a rough patch of slop lately with a west to northwesterly swell coming in all messed up. The water temp is about what you’d expect for now, nothing crazy.
We kick off with two days you can just skip. Sunday the 23rd and Monday the 24th are trash – thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds ruining a 6 ft to 8 ft swell. The wave energy is moderate (795 to 715 in the combined energy) but it’s all cross-off and cross-onshore junk.
Then on Tuesday the 25th morning, there’s a little break in the clouds. The wind goes glassy, just 3 mph from the SSE. Swell drops to 5 ft from the west at a short 7 seconds, with a weak combined energy of 208, but it’s clean. Not big, not powerful, but it’ll be smooth. That afternoon, the cross-shore wind comes back and it’s over.
After that, it’s a long, rough haul. From Wednesday the 26th all the way to September 7th, it’s mostly poor conditions. The wind is onshore or cross-onshore every day, from light to fresh to strong breezes. Swell sizes bounce between 2 ft and 7 ft, mostly from the NW to NNW, but periods are short – 5 to 10 seconds – and it’s all choppy, lumpy, or messy. Combined energy numbers go from as low as 53 up to 1028, but with the wind howling, none of it’s any good for surfing. A few sessions are marked “unknown” for wind state, but they’re still rated poor.
The one and only standout is that Tuesday morning (25th August) with the glassy conditions. It’s a tiny window, but if you’re keen, a clean 5 ft west swell with no wind is as good as it gets in this run. For the rest of the 16 days… honestly, this looks more like a kiteboarding forecast than a surf forecast, especially on the bigger, windier days. It’s a long, dry spell, nearly two weeks of nothing worth paddling for. But hey, forecasts change, and it won’t stay dead forever.
