Table - best surf conditions forecast for Adraga over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, let's get into it. Rusty here, looking at the forecast for our local stretch.
To be honest, we’ve got a bit of a flat spell on our hands. The first few days of the forecast are a bit of a write-off for a decent paddle. We’re looking at small, weak swell and choppy conditions. The energy is barely registering, with values sitting in the double digits (73) for the first few windows. It’s not looking good for a surf.
The first real glimmer of hope shows up on Sunday the 12th. It’s nothing huge, but it’s our best bet for a little while. The morning at Adraga is looking glassy with a light SSW breeze of 3 mph. The swell is a clean 3 ft from the WNW with a period of 9 seconds. The combined energy is moderate (163). It’s not going to be epic, but for a Sunday morning surf with clean conditions, it’s definitely the standout of the early period. The water temp is 67°, which is pretty normal for this time of year.
After that, we go back into a very poor patch. The wind swings onshore and the swell stays small and weak. The energy drops back to the double digits and low hundreds. It’s a frustrating stretch of days.
Now, looking further out, there’s something that could be a real ripper, but it's a long way off and we have to be cautious. The morning of Wednesday the 24th at Adraga is showing a much bigger pulse of swell. We’re looking at a solid 8 ft from the NNW with a 9-second period. The energy is very strong (805). The wind is forecast to be light and cross-off from the ENE at 9 mph, which would give us clean, lined-up waves. However, the swell is getting big. At 8 ft it’s in the expert territory. Also, the period is only 9 seconds, so it will be a bit of a wall of water rather than a long-period groundswell. This is a promising one, but it’s a week and a half away, so don’t pencil it in just yet. The rest of the second week is a write-off, with strong onshore winds and messy conditions.
So, to sum it up: Sunday morning for a glassy small-wave session, and keep an eye on that Wednesday the 24th for a potential big-wave day for the experienced crew.
Rusty.
