Table - best surf conditions forecast for Praia da Foz Cabo Espichel Sesimbra over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s break down what’s happening at Praia da Foz Cabo Espichel Sesimbra over the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, I gotta be straight with you – the first week and a half is looking pretty grim. We’ve got a long stretch of small, weak, and choppy surf. From Friday the 10th right through to Saturday the 18th of July, it’s mostly cross-onshore winds and messy conditions. There’s a bit of a bump on Friday the 10th afternoon with a 3ft NW swell, but it’s hammered by a fresh breeze. Not worth paddling out for. The following days are much the same – tiny 1.0ft to 2ft waves with poor quality. There’s a brief moment on Sunday morning the 12th where we get a clean cross-offshore wind and a 3ft W swell, but it’s still very ordinary. That’s about as good as it gets in the first week, and that’s not saying much.
The real standout in this whole forecast window is still a long way off. On Sunday the 19th of July, early morning, we get a glassy window with a 4ft NW swell. The water temp is right around 68°, which is bang on average for this time of year – nothing unusual there. Combined energy is moderate at 183, and the light glassy wind will make for clean conditions. This is the best session on offer, but don’t expect perfect waves – it’s an intermediate reef break that’s fairly consistent, so it’ll be worth a look if you’re keen for a paddle.
Monday the 20th morning also has some 4ft NW swell with light cross-onshore breezes, but it’s only marginal. The following days (21st to 24th) are mostly ordinary again. There’s a pulse of 5ft NW swell on Thursday the 23rd morning with clean light winds, but the combined energy jumps to 277 – moderate to strong – and the period is only 8 seconds. Short period, so it’ll be a bit crumbly and not the best shape.
Later on, Saturday the 25th afternoon shows a 5ft NW swell with a longer period of 10 seconds and high combined energy of 397, but again it’s onshore winds and poor surf quality. That one’s too far out to bank on.
So in short – the first week is a right-off. The best bet is the glassy Sunday the 19th morning, and maybe a look at the 23rd morning if you’re an intermediate surfer. No standout excellence here, just a few windows that might give you a ride.
Stay patient, keep an eye on the forecasts.
Rusty.
