Table - best surf conditions forecast for Wurtulla over the next 16 days.
G’day, Rusty here. We’ve got a bit of a mixed bag coming up at Wurtulla over the next couple of weeks. The first few days are pretty messy with onshore winds and lumpy conditions, but there’s a couple of windows that’ll get the stoke up. The standout is going to be Saturday the 11th and Sunday the 12th—they’re the ones to circle.
Right now, Wednesday the 8th is a write-off. Rain showers, a cross wind at 16 mph, and a 7 ft SE swell with moderate wave energy (2023) but a cross-chop means it’s just ugly. Not worth paddling out. Thursday the 9th isn’t much better—lighter wind but still cross-on and choppy, with swell dropping to 3-5 ft. Friday the 10th stays poor with rain and cross-shore wind, even though there’s a bit more size at 6 ft in the arvo (977 combined energy), it’s cross-on and lumpy.
Now, Saturday morning the 11th—that’s the first real glimmer. Glassy conditions with a SSW wind at just 3 mph. Swell is a small 3 ft from the SE (10 sec period), and the combined energy is light at 257, but it’ll be clean and fun for a beginner-friendly wave. The arvo turns cross-on again, so get in early.
Sunday the 12th is the pick. Morning has a clean offshore wind from the WSW at 12 mph, a 3 ft ESE swell (11 sec period, 200 combined energy), and it’s described as clean. That’s a proper session—light crowd likelihood at this spot, and the conditions will hold. The arvo stays clean but the swell drops off.
From Monday the 13th onward, it’s a long, slow fade. Swell drops to 2 ft or less through Tuesday the 14th, and the energy is barely there (down to 26 on Tuesday). Even though the wind stays offshore or light, there’s just no push. Wednesday the 15th sees a tiny 3 ft pulse from the ESE with a short 5 sec period—basically windswell—and cross winds keep it ordinary. This flat spell runs through to about Friday the 17th, where a small bump of 4 ft SE swell shows up, but it’s hammered by a fresh cross wind at 19 mph (179 combined energy), so it’s messy again.
The second week stays poor. Through to Saturday the 18th and Sunday the 19th, we get 4-5 ft SE swells but always with cross winds at 16-19 mph, creating lumpy conditions. Monday the 20th is a bit bigger at 5 ft from the east (244-252 combined energy) but still cross-shore. Tuesday the 21st has some marginal hope with lighter winds and a 5-5 ft east swell (448 combined energy in the arvo), but it’s onshore. Wednesday the 22nd has a clean offshore morning with a 4 ft east swell (144), but the period is a short 7 sec, so it’ll be weak and a bit fat. Thursday the 23rd closes out with a 4 ft NE swell but a fresh 19 mph cross-off wind that’ll make it blown out.
All up, Saturday the 11th and Sunday the 12th are your best shots for clean, rideable waves. After that, it’s a lot of waiting for a decent window. Stay keen.
