Alright, this is Rusty.

Look, the coming weeks are gonna be a mixed bag. We’ve got some serious juice on the way, but the wind and local conditions are going to keep things interesting, to say the least. The water is sitting at a cool 69°F, which feels a bit colder than normal for this time of year, so you might want the extra rubber.

The first real action hits on Wednesday afternoon, July 8th, down at Point Cartwright. The swell is a solid 7ft from the SE, with a combined wave energy of 1266 – that’s proper strong. But here’s the kicker: the wind is an 19 mph cross-off from the SSE, making it a clean wave but this is a big, powerful setup at an advanced break. If you're not dialed in, this one is for the experts only.

Thursday morning, July 9th, looks much cleaner for the rest of us. The swell drops to a more manageable 5ft from the SE, still a good size, but that offshore wind from the South at 12 mph is going to lock the faces in. The energy is still moderate at 638. This is a solid window for anyone comfortable at an advanced level.

Now, the standout window for the whole run is Friday morning, July 10th. We get 6ft of SE swell pumping in, with a period of 10 seconds. That’s a lot of water moving, and the combined wave energy is 1069. The wind is offshore from the SSE at 12 mph. This is the top pick – excellent conditions for experienced surfers looking for a clean, powerful wave at Point Cartwright.

Saturday the 11th has a drop-off with a 3ft swell and light offshore winds, making it a good, smaller option.

After that, we hit a dead zone. From Sunday the 12th right through to Wednesday the 15th, it’s mostly junk – small, weak, and poor quality. It’s an almost week-long lull.

Things get interesting again on Thursday afternoon, July 16th. A new swell bursts in, hitting 7ft from the SSE, but with a short, weak period of just 7 seconds. The energy is a moderate 493. It’ll be clean, but that short period means it might be a bit jumbled on the bank.

Friday morning, July 17th, is another chase day. The swell is 8ft from the SE with a 9-second period and a combined energy of 894. The wind is offshore from the SSW at 12 mph. This will be a big, powerful, clean wave – but that size and short period makes it a beast for experts only. Later that afternoon, the wind cranks up to a 25 mph cross-off, which will turn it into a washout.

Saturday the 18th and Sunday the 19th stay on the bigger side with strong offshore winds, but the conditions are marginal and tricky. The energy is still moderate to strong, but the consistent big wind makes it more of a survival session.

The second week fades out from Monday the 20th onward with dropping swell and small, clean but weak conditions.

So, to sum it up: Friday morning, July 10th is your best, most reliable bet for a quality, powerful session. Friday morning, July 17th is the wildcard, the biggest swell of the run, but it's strictly for the big-wave crew.

This is Rusty, signing off.
