Table - best surf conditions forecast for Willow Creek over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here again, in feet and Fahrenheit. Let’s break down Willow Creek. It’s a reef break, exposed to the west, and it’s consistent. Water temp is running about 55°F, which is way colder than normal – more than 3°F below average – so you’ll want the thick rubber.
The week starts slow. Sunday July 12th has some small 3ft swell from the SSW, but the wind is a messy cross-onshore, so skip it. Monday July 13th morning is the first good window – glassy, 3ft SSW groundswell (13-second period), clean and fun. Energy is moderate (421). Good for beginners. The afternoon gets ruined by cross-shore chop.
Tuesday July 14th switches to a short-period NW windswell (8 seconds) at about 5ft, but it’s choppy. Wednesday and Thursday see the swell building – up to 7ft on Thursday afternoon from the WNW, but strong cross-winds turn it into a washing machine. That’s expert-only territory if you’re bold.
The absolute standout is Friday July 17th morning. Glassy conditions, 4ft of clean NW groundswell (8-second period), energy at 636. The wind is dead calm, the surface is smooth as butter – a dream session for everyone. That same afternoon drops to 2ft but with a 17-second groundswell – long, beautiful lines, best at the reef for a proper ride.
Saturday July 18th morning is another glassy gem – 3ft of SW groundswell with an 18-second period and energy at 702. Grab a longboard and enjoy the glide.
The second half of the forecast has smaller but consistent SW and SSW groundswells, often with long periods (15-18 seconds). By Thursday July 24th, a bigger pulse of 5ft S swell (14 seconds) arrives, but the wind is cross, making it lumpy. Energy hits 1099 (very strong) – not perfect, but powerful.
From July 21 onward, the windows get tighter. Mostly cross-winds, smaller surf, and only a few glassy mornings. Nothing that blows the doors off, but there are always pockets for the dedicated local.
Bottom line: Friday July 17th and Saturday July 18th are your best bets – glassy, clean, long-period goodness. Get wet.
Rusty.
