Table - best surf conditions forecast for Whipsiderry over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s have a look at what’s on offer for Whipsiderry over the next couple of weeks.
Honestly, mate, it’s a pretty grim run. The next week and a half is mostly a write-off with tiny, weak swell and messy winds. The water’s sitting at 65°F right now, which is much warmer than usual for this time of year – that’s a real anomaly, about 5°F above normal. But that’s about the only thing out of the ordinary.
We’ve got a big gap of nothing worth paddling out for from now until around the 24th of July. The swell is tiny, the period is short, and the energy is weak – typical summer flat spell. A few moments on the 14th and 15th have glassy conditions, but the swell is 0.7ft to 1ft, so you’re barely floating. Not worth the wetsuit peel.
The only real standout in this whole outlook is the 24th of July. Friday morning brings a pulse of 4ft swell from the west, with moderate energy (182), and by the afternoon it bumps up to 5ft and 279 energy. That’s the most grunt we see all period. Period is a short 6-7 seconds though, so it’ll be a bit lumpy and won’t hold shape perfectly. The wind is a gentle cross-onshore, so expect some chop. It’s not a classic, but it’s the best of a bad bunch, and it’s at the intermediate level – not for beginners at that size, but not too heavy for anyone with a bit of experience.
After that, the 25th cleans up a bit with a light cross-offshore, but the swell drops back to 3ft and energy falls off. The 27th shows a 7ft swell from the NW, but it’s cross-onshore and messy – that’s expert-only territory if you’re keen, but the quality is poor.
Bottom line: don’t get your hopes up for the first 10 days. The 24th is your best bet if you’re desperate, but keep expectations low.
