Table - best surf conditions forecast for Tweed River Breakwall over the next 16 days.
Hey, Rusty here. So we’re looking at a pretty quiet spell at the Tweed River Breakwall. The first few days are all about tiny, clean waves, but nothing with any power. The water’s sitting around 69°F, which is dead average for the season.
Monday morning, July 13th, brings a weak 1ft ESE swell with a 9-second period (energy 35). The wind is dead calm and glassy though, so if you just want to get wet, it’s a beautiful, flat-looking ocean. Tuesday morning, July 14th, the swell drops to just 0.7ft (energy 15), barely a bump.
Then the wind turns onshore from the south, and we get a run of poor, choppy conditions. By Thursday, July 16th, the swell builds to 4ft from the SE (energy 179) but it’s cross-shore and bumpy. Friday the 17th and Saturday the 18th see the swell jump up, hitting nearly 8ft on Saturday morning from the SE (energy 1030) with fresh cross-onshore winds over 15 mph and rain. That’s big, lumpy, and ugly – not a surfer’s wave, more of a kite session.
That messy, powerful swell continues. Sunday the 19th has an 8ft ESE swell (energy 1044) and more onshore wind. Way too big and messy for beginners, and only for the most experienced looking for a beatdown in the chop.
Things finally settle by Wednesday, July 22nd. The swell drops to 3ft from the east (energy around 145) with a lighter cross-shore wind.
The real highlight, for what it’s worth, comes on Thursday morning, July 23rd. We’ve got a small 3ft east swell (8-second period, energy 111) and the wind goes dead glassy. It’s the first clean, surfable session in over a week. Not big, but clean. Then Friday morning, July 24th, offers 2ft east swell with calm, glassy conditions (energy 83). Best of the bunch is Thursday the 23rd. It’s tiny, but good luck finding a cleaner wave around here after all that wind.
The final weekend and start of the next week remain small and clean, with a tidy 3ft east swell and light offshore wind on Monday the 27th morning (energy 169) being the pick of that second week.
So, a slow two weeks. The first half is all onshore junk, the second half is mostly clean but tiny. Bring the log.
