Table - best surf conditions forecast for Trearddur Bay (Holy Island) over the next 16 days.
Right then, folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what the next couple of weeks are shaping up to be for Trearddur Bay on Holy Island. I’ll be straight with you – this is a tough one. We’re looking at a long, dry spell with barely a ripple to get excited about for a good while.
The first proper surf we see on the cards doesn't show up until Saturday the 25th of July, and even then, it's a bit of a rough diamond. Before that, we've got a solid two-week gap with nothing worthwhile. From Sunday the 12th right through to Friday the 24th, the guidance is all flat or offering tiny, weak slop that’s just not worth paddling out for. The conditions will be clean with offshore winds most days, but with no swell to work with, it’s a case of "all dressed up with nowhere to go." The water is sitting at 61°, which feels a touch warmer than usual for this time of year, but that's about the only highlight.
The first real sign of life comes on Saturday the 25th of July. The morning sees a SSW swell pushing 3 ft, but it’s a short period windswell of 5 seconds, and it’s blowing straight onshore at 15 mph. The combined energy is moderate (47), but the quality is shot. By the afternoon, it jumps up to 6 ft from the SSW, with a period of 6 seconds and the onshore wind picks up to 22 mph. The energy builds to 204, but it’s going to be a messy, lumpy affair. This is more of a kite-surfing setup than a clean paddle session.
Sunday the 26th of July keeps that moderate energy (205) with a 5 ft SSW swell, but the period is still short at 7 seconds, and the wind is a fresh 22 mph onshore. Again, it’ll be all over the place. The waves are a bit too big for beginners, and the onshore wind will ruin any chance of a decent shape. It’s not a day for the longboard, that’s for sure.
Monday the 27th of July sees the swell drop back to 3 ft, with the energy falling to 74. The wind turns cross-onshore, which is a slight improvement, but it’s still choppy and the period is a weak 5 seconds. There’s nothing here that stands out as a winner. Honestly, if you’re desperate for a paddle, the best chance of a clean wave might be that glassy Sunday morning on the 19th of July, but it’s only 0.3 ft – barely a ripple. This is a lean period for Trearddur Bay, and it’s a case of waiting for the next proper swell to roll in.
Rusty.
