Alright, let's get into it. Grab a coffee, this one's a slow burner.
First up, looking at the whole 16-day window, honestly, it’s a flat spell for us. There’s not a single standout session where everything clicks perfectly. The swell is just too small and the winds are mostly hanging in that cross/cross-on direction, which is never ideal for a reef break like this.
Right now, on Friday the 3rd, we’ve got a small 2.6ft swell from the SSW, with a long 16-second period. That long period is a good sign for the energy, but the wind is a light cross-onshore out of the West at 6 mph, making for poor surf. The combined wave energy is sitting at 316 (moderate), but it just doesn't look clean.
Saturday the 4th is more of the same—2.3ft from the SSW, but the wind stays cross-onshore. The morning is poor, and the afternoon creeps up to a "marginal" tag, but I wouldn't get too excited.
We finally get a bit of offshore wind on Sunday morning the 5th—a light 6 mph from the SW—which is promising for a clean face. The swell is 2.3ft from the SSW with a very long 18-second period. That’s groundswell, which is great for this reef, but the wave comment calls it poor surf. The combined energy is 372 (moderate). You might see a few lined-up waves, but it’ll be inconsistent with those long gaps between sets.
Monday the 6th morning looks like another chance with light offshore SW wind and a 2.6ft SSW swell (16s period, 486 moderate energy). It’s still tagged as marginal though. Tuesday the 7th morning sees the swell bump up to 3.3ft from the SSW, period still a solid 18 seconds, and the combined energy jumps to 723 (strong). The wind is light cross-onshore from the SSW at 6 mph, which isn't pristine, but the waves might have enough push to be fun. That’s probably your best chance in the first week, but it's still a "marginal surf forecast" call.
After that, it’s a slow bleed. We drop back to 3ft and 2.6ft for the rest of the first week and into the second, with the wind stubbornly staying cross-on or onshore. The water temperature anomaly label is blank, so assume the water is about average for this time of year.
By the time we hit Wednesday the 15th, the swell bottoms out at only 1.3ft from the SW, but for the afternoon, the wind goes completely glassy (3 mph from the SSW). That is a rare moment. The combined energy is a weak 124. It’s surfable, but you’ll be hunting for tiny little peelers. The last notable day is Saturday the 18th, where we see a 2ft SW swell with an 18-second period and 322 combined energy (moderate), but the wind is cross-onshore again.
So, the honest truth: the best on offer is probably Tuesday morning, 7th July. The swell hits 3.3ft from the SSW with that long 18s period for shape, and the wind is light. It’s not perfect, but it’s the most size we’ll see. The other slight standout is the glassy Wednesday afternoon the 15th for a tiny, clean session. Don’t expect much, but if you're desperate, that's your window.
Stay patient.
