Table - best surf conditions forecast for Terry s Cove over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you – this 16-day window for Terry’s Cove is a tough one. We’re looking at a long stretch of mostly flat, weak conditions with a couple of very small windows of something rideable, but nothing that’s going to get the heart pumping. The overall pattern is a whole lot of nothing with a persistent cross or cross-offshore wind that just won’t let up.
We start off on Sunday July 12th with a tiny 1ft swell from the SSE, but it’s clobbered by a 16 mph cross-on wind. The water is a balmy 88°, which is much warmer than normal for this time of year – feels like a bath, but the surf is a mess. The combined energy is a paltry 18 (weak). Not worth the paddle.
Monday the 13th afternoon sees a bit of a pulse – a 4ft swell from the WSW, but it’s short-period windswell at 5 seconds and the wind is 22 mph. The combined energy bumps up to 67 (still weak), and while the wind is cross-off making it look clean, that’s a lot of breeze for a 4ft wave. It’s going to be bumpy and blown out for most.
From there, it’s a flat spell. From Tuesday the 14th right through to the morning of Monday the 20th, we’re talking about a solid week of knee-high dribble or flat calm. The swell heights barely crack 1ft, periods are short, and the combined energy numbers are mostly in the single digits. There are a few moments with a gentle offshore wind, like Friday the 17th morning with a 1ft swell and a 9 mph offshore from the NW, but it’s just too small to do anything with. The energy is 4 (weak). It’s a clean, flat lake.
Monday the 20th afternoon offers a tiny glimmer. A 2ft swell from the WSW with a 14 (weak) combined energy. The wind is a 9 mph cross-shore. It’s still poor, but it’s the biggest wave in over a week. Still, not a recommendation.
The rest of the period into the 27th is a repeat of tiny, weak swells and breezy conditions. The 24th morning has a 2ft SW swell with a 12 (weak) energy and a light offshore from the N. Clean, but again, not enough push. The combined energy never gets into double digits after that.
Honestly, this is a blank run. Terry’s Cove is a sandbar that needs a proper push, and it’s just not getting one. If you’re a kite surfer, the persistent side-shore winds might offer some play, but for a paddle surfer, there’s nothing on offer. The forecasts can always change, but right now, it’s a long wait.
Rusty.
