Surf Forecasts:
The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's be straight with you about the next couple of weeks for our local spot.
Right now, and looking out for the next 16 days, it's a bleak picture. We've got nothing but flat, poor conditions on the cards at Saybrook. The combined wave energy is a flat zero, and it's going to stay that way. We're looking at a solid run of days with no surf at all. The water temp is sitting at 24°, which is a touch warmer than usual for this time of year.
From Wednesday the 15th of July right through to the end of the month, every single forecast window shows no wave height, no swell direction, and no period. It's all zeros. There are patches of glassy or clean wind on Friday the 17th morning (WSW 3 miles per hour), Thursday the 23rd morning (ESE 3 miles per hour), Wednesday the 29th morning (E 3 miles per hour), and even some cross-offshore breezes on the 24th and 30th. But it doesn't matter – with zero swell to work with, the cleanest wind in the world won't put a rideable wave under your board.
We do have some moderate breezes and a few fresh westerly winds kicking up later in the period, but that's all just whitecaps and chop on a flat ocean. Honestly, this stretch looks more interesting for someone wanting to mess around on a kiteboard than for paddle surfing, but even then, there's no swell to push you. There's simply no standout day, no best option. It's a total blank. For a spot like this, a long quiet run happens. Forecasts can change, but as things stand, keep the boards in the garage for a while.
Rusty.
