Surf Forecasts:
The Lowdown
Alright, this is Rusty. Let me tell you straight up: the next sixteen days at Saybrook are looking pretty damn flat. We’ve got a whole lot of nothing on the horizon.
Look, I’ve scanned the charts and there’s just no swell energy to speak of. The combined energy of all swells directed here is sitting at a big fat zero (0) for the entire period. That’s a total bust. From Sunday the 30th of August all the way through to Monday the 14th of September, we’re looking at a complete blank. Every single session shows “poor surf conditions” with no wave height at all. It’s a long, dry spell.
We’ll get some clean, glassy conditions on the morning of Friday the 4th of September – wind is zero, the water will be like a mirror. But with no swell, it’s just a lake out there. The water temp is about average for this time of year, so you won’t need a thick suit for a paddle, but that’s it.
The wind will swing around a bit, but with no waves, it doesn’t matter. On the 3rd of September, we get a morning of light offshore from the NW, but again, no surf to ride. There’s a couple of afternoons with a clean cross-offshore breeze, like the 5th of September, but it’s all for nothing.
Honestly, if you’re looking to get wet, you might be better off with a kite. There’s enough wind on some days, like the 10th of September with a fresh 22 mph cross-onshore, but for a paddle surfer? Forget it. This is one of those stretches where the forecast is just plain cruel. It’s a total write-off for surf at Saybrook. Don’t bother checking the cams.
Rusty.
