Updates in hr min s Forecast update imminent
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let's have a look at what's on the cards for the Point Judith region. Honestly, the next few days are a bit of a bust. We've got a long stretch of very small, wind-affected surf through the first week of July. The swell energy is weak, generally under 100, so don't expect much.
Saturday the 4th gives us a tiny 1-foot swell from the SE, but it's blown out by a cross-offshore wind. The water temp is sitting around 69°, a degree warmer than average, so it's a touch balmy. Still, it's not worth paddling out for. This flat and poor spell hangs around all the way through to Thursday morning, July 16th. That's over a week of marginal to non-existent waves.
Things finally start to look a bit more promising on Saturday, July 11th. That afternoon, the swell bumps up to 4 feet from the south, with a period of 9 seconds. The wind is clean and cross-offshore, and the combined energy jumps into the moderate range at 272. It's still just a "marginal" call, but it's the first sign of life.
The best window we've got is shaping up for Lighthouse on the morning of Saturday, July 18th. We're looking at a solid 5-foot south swell, seven-second period (so a bit of a short period windswell), but the wind is clean and cross-off. The wave energy is strong at 276. This one has the highest potential for a decent session, and it's on a weekend. However, with that much energy, and the size pushing over 5 feet, it might be a bit much for beginners.
Following that, Sunday, July 19th morning also looks okay, with 5 feet from the south and clean cross-off winds. The energy is still solid at 286, so there's more rideable surf in the mix.
For a final highlight, check out Lighthouse on Thursday, July 16th afternoon. It's tiny at just 0.6 feet, but it's glassy with a light offshore from the west. Not one for a proper wave, but if you've got a log and just want to feel the glide on a tiny ripple, it'll be the cleanest water you'll find.
So to wrap it up: there's a long dry spell, but the weekend of the 18th and 19th of July offers the best chances of getting some proper waves under your board. Keep an eye on that Saturday.
Rusty.
