Table - best surf conditions forecast for Rodiles - Main Beach over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at the stretch ahead for Rodiles - Main Beach.
Right off the bat, it’s a tough start. We’re looking at a proper dry spell. From now through the 19th of July, there’s just nothing doing. The swell is tiny, the energy is weak, and the conditions are poor. It’s a long stretch of flatness, so if you’re itching to paddle out, you’re going to be waiting a while.
Things start to shuffle a little around the 20th of July. The swell bumps up a bit, but it’s still onshore and messy. The 21st of July Tuesday morning is the first real glimmer of hope. We get a bit of a pulse with swell around 4ft from the North, and the wind goes glassy – calm, zero wind. The wave energy is moderate (163), but the period is short at 7 seconds, so it’s not going to be a world-beater. Still, for a morning surf when it’s been flat for so long, you take what you can get.
But the real standout, the one to circle on your calendar, is the 25th of July Saturday morning. That’s the day. The swell jumps to 7ft from the NNW with a long period of 12 seconds – that’s proper groundswell energy. The wave energy is a massive 1284, so you’ll feel the power. Wind is light and offshore from the WNW, which means clean, lined-up waves. This is the best on offer, hands down. It’s a big swell though, over 5ft, so it’s not a beginner's day. With that long period, expect it to be a bit more lined up and better for the take-off, but it might close out sections if you’re not on the right part of the bank.
The 26th of July Sunday morning is still decent, with a drop to 4ft from the NW, but still clean and with good energy (322). A solid follow-up session.
The water temp is about average for the time of year, so no wetsuit surprises there.
To sum it up: suffer through the flat spell until the 21st for a glassy but average session, and then absolutely go hard on the 25th. That’s the one.
