Table - best surf conditions forecast for Rodiles over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s talk about Rodiles. This is a river mouth setup for the experts, and I gotta be honest with you – for the next couple of weeks, it’s gonna be a real test of patience. The forecast is looking pretty grim for a long stretch there, but there’s a glimpse of something at the very end.
Right now, we’re stuck in a flat spell. From Wednesday, July 8th, right through to the morning of Monday, July 20th, it’s all just small, weak, and pretty ordinary. We’re talking swell heights barely bumping past 2ft with combined wave energy that’s mostly in the double digits. It’s a long, quiet period with nothing worth getting excited about.
The water temperature is sitting at 68°F, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, but honestly, you won’t care about that because there’s nothing to ride.
Now, here’s where it gets interesting, but you gotta wait for it. Tuesday, July 21st morning is the standout. That morning we’re looking at a solid 7ft swell from the NW. The combined energy jumps up to a strong 507 – that’s proper power. And with a glassy, light N wind at 3 mph, the conditions will be clean as a whistle. This is a big swell though, over 8ft by the afternoon, so this is strictly for the crew who know what they’re doing. The period is short at 7 seconds, so it’ll be a bit lumpy and crumbly on the face, but the river mouth setup should handle it.
The next morning, Wednesday, July 22nd, is another good look. Swell drops a bit to 5ft from the NW but still has plenty of push with an energy reading of 474. Again, glassy conditions early with a light NE breeze at 3 mph. This is a little more manageable for strong intermediates who want a piece of it, but still powerful. Expect crowds to be a problem here, especially when it’s this good.
After that, the surf drops right back down again into the ordinary stuff. So, mark your calendar for the 21st and 22nd of July. That’s your window. The rest is a waiting game.
Rusty.
