The Lowdown
Alright folks, Rusty here with the full 16-day outlook for the Rodiles area. It's a bit of a slow burner, but there's some solid stuff on the horizon if you've got the patience.
Round these parts, the water is sitting pretty average for the time of year, so no need to dig out the thermals or the board shorts just yet.
The first few days are a write-off, honestly. We're looking at a gap of nothing special from Thursday the 20th through to Tuesday the 25th. The swell is tiny and the wind is all over the shop. You'll see a bit of energy mid-week, but it's mostly messy and cross-onshore, so don't get your hopes up. The real story starts to build on Wednesday the 26th.
The standout of the whole run is Wednesday afternoon, 26th of August. The swell jumps up to a solid 8ft from the NW, with a combined energy of 704. That's a lot of power. The real kicker is the glassy conditions and a light ENE wind, which should groom the river mouth perfectly. This is proper expert territory at that size, but for the crew who know Rodiles, it's going to be firing. Keep in mind, with a short period of 7 seconds, it'll be a bit crumbly, but the power is undeniable.
We've got another good window on Thursday morning the 27th with a 7ft WNW swell and clean offshore winds, and then again on Friday morning the 28th with a clean 5ft NW swell. Saturday the 29th morning also looks decent with a 5ft NW swell and light cross-off winds.
Looking further out into the first week of September, there's a promising run of glassy mornings. Monday the 31st of August through to Wednesday the 2nd of September all have clean, glassy conditions on the cards with waist to head-high NW swell. The standout there is Wednesday the 2nd of September morning with a clean 5ft NW swell. The afternoon of the 2nd builds to 8ft NW, but that's marginal for quality.
The last hurrah looks like Friday the 4th of September morning with a clean 5ft NW swell, a nice way to end the run. It's a long-range call, so treat it as promising but not locked in.
Rusty.
