The Lowdown
Alright, let's take a look at what's coming up for Rodiles. It's a tricky stretch, to be honest. We've got a lot of small, weak days ahead, and you're going to have to be patient.
Right now, for the next week and a half, the surf is pretty much flat. The swell energy is tiny, sitting at just 11 (combined energy of all swells directed here) on Friday morning, with a weak 0.7 ft swell from the WNW. The wind is cross-offshore, so it's clean, but there's nothing to ride. That theme carries on through the weekend and into the start of next week. We see a little bump to about 2 ft on Sunday morning, but it's glassy, which is nice, but you're still looking at just 24 (combined energy of all swells directed here) of energy.
The first real pulse of size comes on Monday, 20 July, with a 6 ft swell from the NNE. The energy jumps to 356, which is moderate, but the wind is onshore, and the conditions are described as "marginal surf forecast or questionable tide conditions." It's not a good look. The period is only 7 seconds, so it's a windswell. The wind stays messy through Tuesday and Wednesday.
Now, let's talk about where it gets interesting. There's a bit of a run from the 27th of July onward. Monday afternoon shows a 6 ft swell from the NW, but again, 402 (combined energy of all swells directed here) and cross-shore wind chopping it up.
The true standout, and the only window I'd get excited about, is Wednesday morning, 29 July. We've got a clean 4 ft groundswell from the NNW, pushing with 349 (combined energy of all swells directed here) of energy. The period is 11 seconds, which is solid and will give the waves some shape. The wind is cross-offshore from the WNW, so it should be clean. This is the best stretch of the entire 16-day run. This spot is a river-mouth setup, which handles a longer period like this well. So for the experts, that Wednesday morning could be firing.
After that, it drops back off again, sliding down through the end of July into August with nothing of note.
So, to wrap it up: there's a long dry spell with nothing rideable until the 20th, and even then, it's messy. The only real call to make is Wednesday morning, 29 July, at Rodiles. That's your window.
Rusty.
