The Lowdown
Right then, let's have a look at what Rhosneigr has got lined up for us.
Alright, I'll be straight with you – it's a tough start. Over the next few days we're looking at tiny, almost non-existent swell. You'll be lucky to find anything rideable until the tail end of next week. The wait kicks off now and stretches right through until the morning of Thursday the 27th of August. That's a good six days of flat or near-flat conditions.
Then, on Thursday the 27th of August, we might finally see a pulse. It's nothing special – a small 3ft swell from the SSW at a short period of 7 seconds. The energy is weak (91). The real good news though is a light offshore wind from the NE. It'll be clean, but it's a real beginner-friendly, small-wave day. The water is feeling very unusual for the time of year, sitting at 65°, which is a solid 4° warmer than normal.
We get a bit more energy on Sunday the 30th of August, with a 4ft swell from the SW (energy of 118) and a light cross-offshore ESE wind, keeping the surface tidy. Again, it’s nothing that'll blow your mind, but it's surfable.
The best day in the whole outlook looks to be Tuesday the 1st of September. The swell bumps up to 6ft from the WSW, with moderate energy (180). That's a solid size. The only catch is the wind is onshore from the SW at 9 mph, so it won't be glassy perfection, but it's a real step up in size and power compared to everything else on offer. For a more experienced surfer, that's your window. The period is short though at 6 seconds, so it'll be a bit crumbly and fat on the face.
After that, we drop right back down. By Thursday the 3rd of September it's back to tiny 0.3ft leftovers. A long, flat end to the run.
Overall, it's a lean spell. The highlight is that Tuesday the 1st of September for anyone who can handle a bit of chop and wants some size. For the rest, it's a waiting game.
