Table - best surf conditions forecast for Whitesand Bay over the next 16 days.
Alright, let’s get real about this. I’ve looked at the charts for Whitesand Bay, and I’ve gotta be straight with you—it’s a tough stretch ahead. The whole 16-day window is looking like a bit of a flat spell. There are no good surf options on offer here. From now through to the end of the period on July 24th, we’re staring at a long run of poor surf conditions. Every single entry in the forecast is marked as poor, and the scores reflect that. It’s a blank run, plain and simple.
So, what’s the story? The swell is tiny. For the first few days, we’re looking at ankle-snappers: 1 ft on Thursday morning, dropping to 0.7 ft in the afternoon. That’s a weak combined energy of just 19 (19), and the period is a short 5 seconds. It’s a windswell, not a groundswell. The water temp is sitting at 60°, which is about average for the time of year with a small anomaly of 1°, so nothing weird there.
The wind on Thursday morning is glassy from the south at 3 mph, which would usually be a dream, but with no swell to push, it’s a glassy lake. The rest of the week is a mix of cross-off and cross winds, but with swell heights barely cracking 2 ft, it doesn’t matter. You’re not surfing anything.
As we get into the second week, around July 16th, we see a slight bump up to 4 ft on Friday the 17th afternoon, but it’s a short 6-second period from the SSW, and the wind is a moderate cross-shore at 16 mph. That’s a messy, choppy combo. Combined energy hits 93 (93), which is still weak, but it’s the most we’ll see. The setup is a beach, so it’s not going to hold any shape. With that wind and chop, it’s more of a kite-surfing scene than a paddle session.
By July 21st, we get another little spike to 3 ft and 4 ft from the north, but again, very short period (5 seconds) and fresh cross winds at 19-22 mph. The energy bumps up to 81 and 96, but the quality is still poor. It’s lumpy and messy.
The final days, from July 22nd to 24th, drop right back to nothing—0.3 ft to 0.7 ft. It’s a total washout.
For an area like Whitesand Bay, a run like this is more normal. It’s a fairly exposed spot, but the swell windows aren’t lining up. The only positive is that the consistency is listed as “fairly consistent” for the break, so when it’s on, it’s on. But for this 16-day window, it’s just not happening. Forecasts can change, but right now, there’s nothing to get excited about.
