Table - best surf conditions forecast for North Beach over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at the outlook for North Beach.
Right off the bat, the next week or so is pretty average. There's swell on the way, but the conditions are holding it back. The water temp is about 72°, which is pretty normal for this time of year.
We kick off on Saturday, July 11th. There's some south swell around 5ft with a 13-second period, but the wind is messy—cross-off in the morning, switching to a cross-shore in the arvo with some storm risk. The energy is moderate (836), but the forecast is pretty marginal. Don't get too excited.
Sunday the 12th drops off a bit, swell down to 4ft, still from the south, but with a cross-shore wind and light rain. The energy is fading (598). Not your day.
Monday the 13th sees the swell shift to the ESE with a short, weak period of 8 seconds. The wind is cross-on, and honestly, it's looking like poor surf. The energy is still moderate (463), but the quality just isn't there.
Tuesday the 14th is a little better. The swell picks up to 6ft in the afternoon, from the ESE, with a 9-second period. The wind goes light and cross-shore, so the afternoon might be cleaner. Energy is moderate (529). It's marginal, but might be the best of a so-so week.
Wednesday the 15th and Thursday the 16th are a write-off. Swell hangs around but the wind is onshore or cross-on, and the energy drops.
Now, hold on to your board. Friday the 17th afternoon, things get wild. A 10ft south swell rolls in, with a 9-second period. The energy jumps to 1797—that's strong. But the comment says it might be too big for this break. This is expert-only territory. The wind is cross-off, but that size is going to be a handful. Saturday the 18th morning is still big at 8ft, with a very long 17-second period. The energy is through the roof (3822). That's a proper groundswell. The wind is cross-off and it's clean. This is the standout for the whole outlook, but only for experienced surfers. That long period will make it wall up, and at a beach/pier setup like this, it could be shifty and tough to paddle into.
After that, it drops off quickly. Sunday the 19th is smaller but gets chopped up by onshore winds. Monday the 20th afternoon is a little surprise though: still 7ft from the ENE, but with glassy wind conditions. The energy is moderate (1030), and it's glassy. That could be a fun session for those who know what they're doing.
The rest of the forecast is a slow fade. Wednesday the 22nd has some size again (8ft) but the wind is onshore and fresh. Thursday the 23rd afternoon sees a cleaner window with glassy conditions and 5ft swell from the ENE. That looks decent, but it's small. The energy is moderate (557). By the time we hit the 25th and 26th, swell drops below 3ft, and the wind is wrong. There's a small, very long period SSW swell on the 26th, but the cross-on wind kills it.
So, if you're looking for the best of the bunch, Saturday the 18th morning is your big one—just bring your big boy pants. The Monday the 20th afternoon glass-off is the sensible choice for a clean, fun wave. The rest is mostly a pass.
Rusty out.
