Table - best surf conditions forecast for La Marina over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at the outlook for La Marina.
To be straight with you, this is a tough stretch. We’ve got a long, dry gap of almost no real surf to speak of for the first twelve days, through to about the 20th of July. It’s flat, it’s tiny, and the few little bumps we see are just not worth paddling out for. The water temp is sitting at a very unusual 79° – that’s a massive 8° warmer than average for this time of year, so it feels more like a bath than the ocean.
Finally, around the 21st of July, we see a little pulse of life. On Tuesday morning the 21st, there’s a small SSW swell pushing in at 1 ft with a period of 5 seconds, and the wind is offshore from the WNW at 6 mph. That offshore flow will clean it right up, making for some smooth little faces. The combined energy is still very weak though, sitting at just (9). It won’t be big, but for a reef break that’s inconsistent, this is the most interesting window we’ve got. The optimum swell direction for La Marina is from the ESE, so this SSW pulse isn’t ideal, but with clean conditions it’ll be rideable for the intermediate crew. Crowds are often an issue here, so expect some company.
Later that afternoon, the wind swings cross-on from the SSE at 9 mph, and the swell bumps up slightly to 2 ft from the S with a period of 6 seconds and energy at (27). It’s not as clean, but there’s a bit more push.
Wednesday morning the 22nd sees another window: a 2 ft S swell with a 6 second period, light offshore wind from the WNW at 3 mph, and energy at (16). Again, clean conditions on a small, inconsistent reef. That’s our best look.
Honestly, if you’re desperate for a wave, the early morning windows on the 21st or 22nd are your only real chance. For the rest of the run, it’s flat or messy. I wouldn’t get my hopes up.
Rusty.
