Howdy, Rusty here. Let’s call it like it is – this 16-day stretch at L’Arene Cros is slim pickings. It’s a reef that loves a SE swell, and we’re getting nothing but west and northwest pulses for the whole run. That means the waves are small, weak, and coming from the wrong angle. The water is toasty at 77°F, which is about 7°F warmer than normal for this time of year, so at least the dip is pleasant.
The first real push comes Wednesday 16 September afternoon: a W swell at 5ft, 7-second period, moderate combined energy (204). That’s shoulder-head high, but a cross-shore west wind at 12 mph has it choppy, and the direction is all wrong. Not worth the paddle.
Thursday 17 September morning is the biggest of the whole forecast – a WNW swell at 6ft, 6-second period, strong combined energy (211). The wind is cross-off from the northwest at 19 mph, so the face is clean. For an advanced crew on a reef, that’s a solid overhead session, but the short period makes it bouncy. Crowds are *often* here, so you won’t be alone. This is the one standout for size, but it’s not the dream.
Tuesday 22 September morning brings a small 3ft W swell with a 6-second period, weak energy (67), and glassy conditions from a light east wind at 3 mph. Tiny and clean, but the wrong direction again.
From the 24th onward, it’s flat – zero energy until the end of the window. The second week is a total blank.
