The Lowdown

Alright mates, Rusty here. Let’s cut to the chase. The forecast for L'Arene Cros over the next 16 days is a real bummer. The water is 76°F, which is a touch warmer than usual for this time of year, but that’s the only good news.

The first real chance to surf comes on Monday, July 27th, but it’s a tough call. There’s a 5ft swell from the WNW, but the period is a weak 6 seconds, and the combined energy is moderate at 205. The morning has a cross-off breeze from the NW at 15 mph, keeping it clean. By the afternoon, the wind goes to the WNW at 19 mph and turns cross-shore, leaving it lumpy and messy. Not exactly a day to get excited about.

The rest of the week is flat. From Tuesday, July 28th through the end of the month, we’re looking at tiny, gutless swells. Most days, the swell is under 2ft, with periods of 4 to 6 seconds and combined energy in the single digits or low teens. There are a few glassy mornings, like Wednesday, July 29th, but with zero swell, it’s just a flat, glassy lake. You’re better off staying home.

The first week of August is a little better, but not by much. Monday, August 3rd, sees a 4ft swell from the W in the afternoon, but it’s blown out by a moderate cross-onshore wind at 13 mph, making it choppy. The combined energy is still weak at 89. The morning of Tuesday, August 11th, is the best of the lot: a 4ft WNW swell with a clean cross-off wind from the NW at 22 mph, and moderate energy at 121. But the period is only 5 seconds, so the waves will be soft and fat.

The standout? There isn’t one. If you’re desperate, go for the morning of Tuesday, August 11th. The swell is 4ft from the WNW, the wind is cross-off at 22 mph, so it’ll be clean. But the combined energy is only 121, and the short period means it’s a weak, bumpy affair. It’s a session for the hardcore only. For the rest of you, I’d say save your energy.

Rusty.

Short Range Forecast

Mostly dry. Warm (max 31°C on Mon afternoon, min 23°C on Mon morning). Winds decreasing (fresh winds from the W on Mon afternoon, calm by Wed morning).

Days 4-6 Weather Summary

Mostly dry. Warm (max 35°C on Sat afternoon, min 25°C on Fri night). Wind will be generally light.
