The Lowdown

Alright, let’s break down Seignosse – Les Casernes. This beachbreak on the French coast is looking at a pretty average stretch ahead. Nothing huge, but there are a few moments where it’ll be worth waxing up. Water temp is about 73°F, a touch warmer than usual for this time of year.

The first real window is Wednesday the 9th in the morning. We’ve got clean 6ft swell from the NW, period around 9 seconds, and the wind is light and cross-offshore out of the NNE. That’s going to give you some tidy lines. The combined energy is solid at (503). For a beginner-friendly spot, this is about as good as it gets – not too big, not too small, and clean.

After that, things go flat and sloppy for a few days. The swell drops right off, and the wind turns onshore or messy. You’re looking at a gap of almost no quality surf until the 14th of September.

On Monday the 14th, the morning glass session is your next best bet. A 4ft NW groundswell with a long period of 12 seconds, and glassy conditions with a light SE breeze. That’s gonna be a beautiful window of clean, lined-up waves. The energy is moderate at (448), but the quality of the wave will make up for it. This spot can get crowded at times, so paddle out early.

There’s another promising morning on Friday the 18th. Glassy conditions again with a 4ft NW swell (11-second period) and a light ESE offshore wind. That’s another clean session with moderate energy (448).

The following Saturday, the 19th, also has a glassy morning window with a 6ft NW swell, but the period drops to 8 seconds, making it a bit more wind-swell in nature. Still, it’ll be fun and clean for the more experienced beginner.

The real standout for the whole 16-day window? Wednesday the 9th morning. That’s the one that’s got the best combo of size, clean wind, and good energy. If you can only paddle out once, make it that one.

Otherwise, this is a week of waiting for the right window and not much else. The second week’s highlight is the morning of the 18th and the 19th – both glassy and fun, but nothing that’ll blow your mind.
