Table - best surf conditions forecast for Kisami-Ohama Beach over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s talk about what’s cookin’ for the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, we’ve got a serious situation. The first few days are pumping, but it’s way too much of a good thing. The water’s hangin’ around 76°, which is a bit colder than normal for this time of year – feels like the ocean’s holdin’ back a little.
A big, long-period groundswell from the SSW is gonna slam us on Saturday the 11th and Sunday the 12th. We’re talkin’ solid 12 ft to 13 ft faces with a period of 16-17 seconds. That’s a ton of energy (7400+ in the combined energy score). The wind is cross-offshore, so the faces will be clean, but this is expert territory only. The swell direction is coming from the SSW, which isn’t the optimum SE direction for Kisami-Ohama Beach, so it’ll be a bit raw. For most of us, it’s a day to watch from the sand.
The real standout window opens up on Monday the 13th. We’ve got a sweet drop in size to a much more manageable 7 ft from the SW, with a still-solid 13-second period. The wind goes glassy in the morning, which is a dream. This is the best on offer for experienced surfers – the wave quality will be excellent, and the combined energy is still a solid moderate 1445. The afternoon gets a bit bumpy with a cross-onshore breeze, so get it early.
From Tuesday the 14th through the 20th, it’s a pretty flat and quiet stretch. The swell drops below 3 ft with weak, short-period windswell. The energy levels are in the low 100s or even under 100 at times. There’s a few glassy mornings, but the waves are just too small and ordinary to get excited about. It’s a gap of about a week with nothing worth paddling out for.
Then things start to look up again around Tuesday the 21st. The 21st and 22nd show a new pulse of swell building. The standout here is the morning of Wednesday the 22nd. We’re looking at a clean 5 ft swell from the ESE with a nice 13-second period, and it’s dead glassy. The combined energy hits a solid 979. That’s gonna be a super fun, clean wave for a good crowd of surfers. The swell direction is bang on the optimum SE direction for this break, so it’ll wrap in nicely. The 21st morning is also a decent option with 3 ft and glassy conditions, but the 22nd morning is the real prize.
The end of the run into the 25th and 26th has some promise, but it’s further out. The 25th morning shows a glassy 4 ft from the SE with an 11-second period, which could be fun. But the 26th bumps up to 6 ft to 7 ft from the SE, and the wind goes onshore and cross-onshore, so it’s a bit of a gamble. That’s a long-range call, so don’t bank on it yet.
To sum it up: Monday the 13th morning is the go-to for the experienced crew. For the rest of us, wait for the glassy morning of Wednesday the 22nd – that’s your best bet for some clean, fun waves.
Rusty.
