Table - best surf conditions forecast for Kiholo Bay over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s take a look at what’s on the menu for the next couple of weeks in this part of the world.
Well, it’s not looking like a classic run of surf. The first few days are pretty much a write-off with tiny, gutless waves. The standout window is the middle of the week, starting Tuesday morning the 14th of July, when we finally see a pulse of energy roll in. That’s your best bet for a paddle.
The place to be is Kiholo Bay. It’s a beach and point setup, so it can handle a few different swell directions. The water temp is about what you’d expect for this time of year, nothing unusual. The real action kicks off Tuesday morning with a 2ft west swell, but the period is a massive 19 seconds – that’s proper groundswell, with a lot of energy behind it (251). That kind of long-period swell is going to hold up nicely on the point, and with glassy conditions, it’ll be clean and lined up. Watch out though, that long period can make it break a bit straight on the beach sections, so stick to the point for the better walls. The energy is moderate.
Wednesday morning the 15th also looks decent with a 3ft to 3ft west swell (310) and offshore winds, but it’s a bit of a mixed bag with rain showers around later. Thursday the 16th holds similar size, still with that west swell (301) and light winds, so don’t write it off. By Friday the 17th, the swell is dropping back to 2ft and 2ft, but it’s glassy again, making for some fun, small clean waves if you’re on a log or a fish.
After that, it’s a long, slow fade. From Saturday the 18th onward, the energy drops right off, with nothing but scraps and flat spells right through the rest of the month. You’re looking at nearly a week and a half of very marginal to no surf. There’s a tiny spike of 1ft late on the 25th, but it’s not worth getting excited about – it’s poor conditions.
So, the honest truth: the best of the whole 16-day run is that Tuesday to Thursday window (14th to 16th July). Get on it early Tuesday morning for the cleanest, glassiest conditions and the best quality from that long-period groundswell. It’s not big, but it’s the only real wave in town.
Rusty.
