Table - best surf conditions forecast for Kiholo Bay over the next 16 days.
Alright, this is Rusty, and I gotta be straight with you about Kiholo Bay. Looking at the whole 16-day window, there's really nothing to get excited about. The surf is tiny, weak, and the conditions are just not cooperating. We're talking about a long stretch of nothing special.
Right now, on Sunday the 12th, the water's sitting at a pretty warm 80°, which is about 2° warmer than usual for this time of year. Feels nice, but the waves sure don't. We've got a tiny 1ft west swell with a 13-second period, but the combined energy is a measly 54. It's glassy in the morning, but the waves are just too small to bother with. A bit of a cross-shore wind kicks up in the afternoon.
Monday the 13th brings a slight bump in energy to 104, but with a 1ft southwest swell, it's still a dud. The wind stays light and cross-shore, so it's messy and small. Not worth a paddle.
Tuesday the 14th, the swell picks up a little to 2ft from the west, with a long 19-second period. The combined energy hits 251, which is getting into the moderate range. But the wind is cross-onshore, and the data says it's marginal at best. That long period groundswell might try to wrap in, but it'll be breaking straight and closed out on the beach and point setup. This one's a pass for the average surfer.
Wednesday the 15th is more of the same. A bit more energy, hitting 310, but still with cross-onshore winds and a small 3ft swell. The wave comment says "marginal," and I'm inclined to agree. It's a grind.
The best of a bad bunch might be Friday the 17th afternoon. The swell drops back to 2ft from the west, but the wind goes glassy. The combined energy is down to 146, so it's not powerful, but it would be clean. The comment says "surfable waves but very ordinary conditions." That's about the best we can hope for, and it's a low bar.
After that, it's a long, slow decline. From Saturday the 18th right through to Monday the 27th, the swell is mostly below 2ft, and the energy is either weak or non-existent. There are a few glassy moments, especially on the 20th and 25th afternoons, but with swell heights of 0.7ft or 1.0ft, you're just floating. There's a gap from around Tuesday the 21st to Wednesday the 22nd where there's literally no swell at all, and then it just stays tiny.
Honestly, Kiholo Bay is on a flat spell. If you're in the water, you're there for the sun and the warm water, not the waves. This setup is more interesting for a paddleboard than a surfboard. Keep the board in the car and the expectations low.
