Table - best surf conditions forecast for Kiholo Bay over the next 16 days.
Alright, grab your coffee, let’s see what’s cooking here at Kiholo Bay. It’s been a quiet stretch, and honestly, the next couple of weeks are going to test your patience. Right now, we’ve got a flat spell setting in, so don’t bother paddling out just yet. The first few days of the outlook show nothing but tiny, messy ripples – we’re talking near-zero swell and barely any energy. It’s a bit of a blank run, which happens around here when the ocean takes a breather.
We’re looking at a long gap with no real surf to get excited about until around Tuesday, July 14th. That’s when things start to stir. The water temp is sitting at 27°, running a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, so you won’t need a thick suit, just a spring suit or boardshorts.
The first real pulse arrives on Tuesday the 14th during the afternoon. Kiholo Bay (Big Island) will see a clean 2ft swell coming from the west, with a period of 18 seconds. That’s a long-period groundswell, meaning it’ll have proper shape and energy, but it might wall up a bit on the sandier sections – better for the point side. The wind goes glassy that afternoon, which is a major bonus. The combined swell energy hits 222 (moderate), so there’s some push behind it. The waves are still small, but if you’re itching to get wet, that’s your window. Just know the crowds can be around sometimes.
Wednesday the 15th and Thursday the 16th keep a similar size at 2ft, with the same west direction and a little less period, but the wind stays light and variable, mostly offshore or cross-on. The energy stays in the moderate zone, hovering between 215 and 248. It’s not pumping, but for a dead spell, this is the highlight.
None of this is huge – nothing over 5ft, so it’s fine for intermediates, but beginners can still find some forgiving sections. The best bet on the whole forecast is that Tuesday afternoon session on the 14th, with the glassy conditions and that long-period west swell. It’s not a scorcher, but it’s the standout in a pretty quiet window.
After the 17th, things fade fast, dropping back to knee-high dribble by the weekend and then flat again into the following week. So get your fix mid-month, because it’s a long stretch of nothing after that.
Stay patient, keep an eye on the sky, and don’t force it.
Rusty.
