Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s coming down the pipe for our little corner of the coast over the next couple of weeks. It’s a proper mixed bag, so let’s get into it.

Right off the bat, the first few days are a write-off. We have chest to head high swell on the way Saturday morning, 8ft at 12 seconds from the SSW, but with a cross-onshore breeze and some serious energy in the water – the combined energy is a hefty 1818 – it’s messy. That trend continues through Sunday, staying choppy and crossed up. It’s not worth paddling out; you’ll just be fighting it.

Things finally turn around on Monday the 13th. The wind eases right off to a light offshore from the WNW, and the swell drops to a friendly 4ft from the SSW. The water temp is 62°, which is pretty much bang on average for this time of year. It’s clean and small, a good morning for a longboard or a fun shape. The afternoon gets a bit side-on, so morning is the go.

Tuesday the 14th looks even better. We’ve got glassy conditions with a NNW breeze and a little 4ft ESE swell. It’s not pumping, but it’s clean, user-friendly, and uncrowded (though it can get a bit busy here sometimes). A perfect dawny if you’ve got a flexible schedule. Energy is low, around 321, but quality is high.

The standout window kicks off Wednesday the 15th. Morning sees a clean 4ft SW groundswell with a 11-second period and a solid offshore. But the real gold is Thursday the 16th. We get a proper pulse: 8ft to 8ft SW swell, long 14-second periods, and a light offshore wind holding all day. The combined energy jumps to 2152 in the morning and an impressive 4716 in the afternoon. This is excellent, powerful surf for experienced surfers. This is the one you want to clear your calendar for – a true standout.

Friday the 17th brings a massive 12ft SSW swell, but it’s flagged as simply too big for this reef setup. Even with favorable wind, it’s going to be a washing machine. Leave that one for the chargers on a jet ski. Saturday the 18th is blown out with strong ENE winds, so another day off.

There’s a lull then into the next week. Sunday the 19th offers a reprieve with a clean, head-high ESE swell and light offshore winds, good for the experienced crew again. We get a few clean but small days on Monday and Tuesday, but nothing special.

However, the second week has a beauty brewing. Wednesday the 22nd of July looks promising with a 6ft SSW groundswell at 14 seconds and a clean offshore NW wind. That’s a great combo for the reef. Thursday the 23rd is a bit more mixed, but Friday the 24th is another gem – a 7ft SW swell with a 14-second period and clean offshore winds in the morning, followed by totally glassy conditions in the afternoon. Combined energy is solid at 1276. That’s another standout session for the experienced surfer.

We end the run with a couple of blown-out days and one last monster pulse on Sunday the 26th of July – a 13ft, 17-second SSW swell, but again, completely out of control for this break. That’s kiter territory, not paddle surfing.

So to sum it up: the first few days are a no-go. The real standouts are Thursday the 16th of July for the first big clean swell, and Friday the 24th of July for the glassy perfection. Get in the water on those days.

Rusty.
