The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here, and I gotta be straight with ya—this is a tough one. The whole 16-day window is lookin' pretty flat for Fort Pierce North Jetty. We've got a long stretch of nothin' but tiny, weak surf ahead. The combined wave energy is stuck in double digits for days, and even the best of it only bumps into the 70s (76) for a brief moment late on the 29th, which is still considered weak. The swell never really gets above 2 ft to 2 ft at best, and the period is mostly short, under 10 seconds.
Let's walk through it. For the next week or so, from Friday the 21st right through to Thursday the 27th, it's just ankle-biters. Wave heights are a pathetic 0.7 ft to 1 ft, mostly from the east with a short, weak period. The wind blows onshore or cross-onshore most of the time, choppin' up what little ripple there is. There are a few early mornings—like Saturday the 22nd, Sunday the 23rd, and Monday the 24th—that start glassy (WSW 3 mph, SW 3 mph, E 3 mph), which would be beautiful, but there's just no swell to ride. It's a flat, clean lake.
The only flicker of life comes around late August. On the afternoon of Saturday the 29th, we see a small pulse. The swell bumps up to 2 ft from the east, with the period shortenin' to 8 seconds. The combined energy hits 76, which is the highest we’ll see, but it's still weak and the wind is a moderate cross-onshore chop at 12 mph from the SE. It’s messy. Then on Sunday the 30th, the swell drops back to 0.7 ft in the morning, and the afternoon brings 2 ft from the east with a short, wind-affected period of 5 seconds and onshore wind.
The last week of the forecast, from the 1st of September to the 5th, is more of the same. Wave heights stay under 1 ft with onshore wind. The morning of the 5th might be glassy again, but the swell is a measly 0.7 ft. For a spot like Fort Pierce North Jetty that is "very consistent" and usually has something to offer, this is a real lull. There's just no standout session in the whole outlook. It's a full 16-day dry spell for waves.
For a full-on surfer, there is nothin' here. The setup looks more interesting for a flat-water paddle or a kite surfer on the afternoons with some wind and a tiny bump, but for a surfboard, it's a no-go.
Signin' off,
Rusty
