Table - best surf conditions forecast for Fingal Point and Beach over the next 16 days.
Right, grab a coffee, let’s talk about the next couple of weeks for Fingal Point and Beach. It’s a bit of a mixed bag, but there are a couple of windows that’ll get you out there.
We start off pretty flat and ordinary. Sunday the 12th has a small 3ft ESE swell with a 10-second period, but the wind is a light cross-off, so it’s clean enough for a beginner to mess around on. The combined energy is weak (177). The water is sitting at 69°, which is about what you’d expect for this time of year. Monday the 13th morning is tiny, 2ft, but glassy – dead calm, so it’s a proper knee-knocker. Honestly, the first few days are just small scraps.
Then we hit a real rough patch. From Tuesday the 14th right through to Sunday the 20th, it’s mostly poor. There’s a nasty spike on Saturday the 18th with a massive 16ft SE swell, but the wind is a messy 25 mph cross-shore, making it an absolute washing machine. The combined energy is monstrous (6320), but that’s for kite surfers, not paddle surfers. The rest of that week is blown out with strong winds and rain.
The standout finally arrives on Tuesday the 21st of July. It’s the pick of the forecast. Morning glass-off conditions, dead calm, with a solid 7ft ESE swell and a 10-second period. The combined energy is strong (1065). That’s a proper groundswell with good shape, and the cross-off wind from the west will make it clean. It’s over 5ft and pushing 8ft, so this is for experienced surfers only. The point should handle that size well, but be aware – it can get crowded here sometimes, so you might have some company.
The rest of the second week is a slow fade. Wednesday the 22nd through Friday the 24th offers some knee-to-waist high waves (3ft to 5ft) with clean-ish conditions, especially Thursday afternoon the 23rd and Friday the 24th when the glass-off or light cross-off winds return. The water temperature is still mild, nothing unusual. The last few days into the 27th are back to tiny, weak swells, so don’t get your hopes up.
The big call is that Tuesday the 21st. If you’re experienced, that’s the one to circle.
Rusty.
