Alright, this is Rusty. Look, I've stared at the charts for Fingal Point and Beach, and the honest truth is, there’s barely a ripple worth paddling for over the next two weeks. We’ve got a long, quiet stretch ahead.
For Friday the 3rd, it's a tease. We see a small 3.3ft NE windswell, but the wind is a cross-offshore breeze. The water’s sitting at a normal 70.5° for this time of year, but the wave energy is weak (159) so it’s just not got any punch. Friday afternoon looks a bit cleaner with less wind and more energy (236), but still, it's tiny and ordinary.
Then it goes flat. From Saturday the 4th through to Wednesday the 15th, it’s a dead run. The wind swings onshore or cross-shore, and the swell drops to nothing. There’s a bump on Wednesday the 8th with a 7.9ft SE swell, but it’s cross-shore wind and messy. That amount of swell with poor conditions is more of a kite-surfing setup than something you want to paddle into.
Now, if you’re patient, there’s a glimmer. On Thursday the 16th of July, things look interesting. The morning shows a glassy 2.6ft swell from the SE with a long 15-second period (273 energy). That’s a proper groundswell, and with glassy conditions, it could peel nicely down the point for an experienced surfer. Friday the 17th morning holds a bit of that clean leftover energy too, but it’s smaller. That’s your best window, but it's over a week away.
Bottom line: If you need to surf this week, you’re out of luck. Next week’s Thursday morning is the one to watch.
