Table - best surf conditions forecast for Fingal Point and Beach over the next 16 days.
Righto, let’s get into it. The surf outlook for Fingal Point and Beach (Australia) is a bit of a slow burn over the next couple of weeks. There’s a window of decent, clean waves early on, but then things get real quiet for a solid stretch before a tiny whisper of a swell returns toward the end. The water’s around 70°F, which is pretty average for this time of year.
Thursday the 9th is where the action starts. We’ve got a 8 ft SE swell rolling in with an 11-second period – that’s proper groundswell energy, meaning it’ll pack a punch with long lines and nice shape, especially at a point break like this. The combined energy is a solid 1227 (moderate wave energy), so there’s plenty of push. The wind is a clean S 12 mph, cross-offshore, which will keep the faces smooth. This is the standout session, but be aware, that size (over 5 ft) is getting a bit meaty for beginners. The crowds are listed as “sometimes,” so you might have to share, but it’ll be worth it. The swell direction (SE) matches the spot’s optimum (NE) reasonably well, so it’ll wrap in nicely.
Friday the 10th still has some run: 6 ft SE swell, period dropping to 10 seconds, combined energy at 925. Winds stay S 12 mph, cross-off in the morning, keeping it clean. It’s not as powerful as Thursday, but still a good wave.
Saturday the 11th sees a big drop-off. A glassy WNW 3 mph wind early on is a tease, but the swell is tiny at 3 ft from the ESE, with a long 13-second period. Combined energy is only 192 (weak). It’s surfable but very ordinary.
Sunday the 12th morning has a clean 4 ft SE swell with a 10-second period, and a nice offshore W 9 mph wind. Combined energy is 253, still weak but rideable. After that, the surf just fades out. From Monday the 13th onward, it’s a long, flat stretch. You’re looking at days of next to nothing – swell heights barely cracking 2 ft, combined energy dropping to double digits and single digits. The winds stay cross or onshore, chopping it up. There’s a gap of about eight days with no real surf to speak of.
Then, around Wednesday the 22nd of July, a glimmer. Morning sees glassy conditions with 1 ft from the ESE, a very long 13-second period, but combined energy is only 91 (weak). It’s surfable but nothing to get excited about.
Thursday the 23rd morning has a 3 ft SE swell at 10 seconds, combined energy 204, with light S 3 mph cross winds. Might be a fun little dawny if you’re desperate.
So, the real highlight is Thursday the 9th – that’s your best bet. Don’t sleep on it, because after that, it’s a waiting game. The setup isn’t really kicking enough for kiting either. Keep an eye on the forecasts, though – it tends not to stay this flat for too long.
