Alright, Rusty here. Let's break down what’s coming up for Fingal Point and Beach.
We’re looking at a bit of a slow start right now. The beginning of the week is pretty grim with small, weak swell and messy cross-shore winds. Tuesday the 7th is a write-off, and Wednesday the 8th isn't much better, though Wednesday afternoon does see a sudden jump in size – a solid 10 ft SE swell, but it's blowing 25 km/h cross-shore and the energy is pumping hard (1978). That's a big, lumpy mess, definitely one for experienced heads only if you're brave, but the conditions are poor, so I’d sit that one out.
Thursday the 9th morning actually clears up. The swell drops to a still-chunky 8 ft from the SE (1227 energy), and the wind swings to a cross-off from the SSW at 20 km/h, cleaning it up nicely. That’s the first real window where it gets interesting, but it’s still big and demanding. For the average surfer, the real highlight is Saturday morning, 11 July. We’ve got a clean 5 ft SE groundswell (530 energy), and the wind is dead calm – glassy as a mirror. That’s the standout session. It’ll be clean, fun, and the point will be working nicely with that southeast direction.
Sunday morning, 12 July, is another good call. The swell drops to 4 ft SE, but the wind is straight offshore from the west at 10 km/h. Clean lines, manageable size, and the point handles that direction well. That’s a solid morning for a longboard or a funboard.
After that, things taper off fast. The second week looks quiet, with a lot of days showing tiny swell, poor conditions, or flat spells. There’s a glimmer on Sunday the 19th morning – a 5 ft SE swell with a light cross-off breeze – but it’s far off and not a sure thing. The rest of the week into the 22nd is mostly small, weak, and not worth getting excited about.
Water temp is sitting right around 71°, which is normal for this time of year, so no surprises there.
For the pick of the fortnight, I’m calling Saturday morning, 11 July, with glassy conditions on that 5 ft SE groundswell. The energy is solid, the wind is perfect, and that point will have clean, fun waves. Sunday morning the 12th is a close second if you want a bit less crowd.
Rusty.
