Table - best surf conditions forecast for Falmouth - Swanpool over the next 16 days.
Right folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at the forecast for Falmouth - Swanpool.
Alright, I’m not gonna sugarcoat it – this is a grim run. The whole 16-day window is basically a write-off for any decent surf. You’re looking at a long, dry spell with nothing worth paddling out for. The swell is mostly coming from the east, which is cross-on to the beach, and the wind is a constant problem – strong, onshore, and messy. The water is sitting at 65°, which is much warmer than normal for this time of year, but that’s about the only positive.
The first few days are a write-off. Saturday the 11th starts with a weak 4ft east swell and a 6-second period, but that east wind at 25 km/h is just chopping it all up. The combined energy is weak (114). Sunday the 12th sees a bigger 7ft to 8ft east swell, but the wind is howling from the ENE at 35 km/h, making it fresh and lumpy. The energy picks up to moderate (447-583), but the quality is poor. Monday the 13th is the biggest swell of the period, hitting 12ft, but with a strong east wind at 40 km/h, it’s just a messy, blown-out wall of water. The combined energy gets strong (1740), but trust me, that’s not a good thing here – it’s just a washing machine. That’s only for experts, and even then, it’s not fun.
Come Tuesday the 14th, the swell drops to 6ft, but it’s still cross-on and choppy. The energy is moderate (392). Then from Wednesday the 15th onwards, the swell just dies. You’re looking at tiny waves, mostly 1ft or less, with long periods, but no power. The wind does finally swing to the west, going cross-off, which cleans things up, but there’s no swell to ride. The combined energy plummets to double digits and then single digits.
From the 15th of July right through to the 26th, it’s a total blank. Nothing but small, weak signals and clean but flat conditions. The only glimmer is a bit of offshore wind on the 18th and 19th, but with waves less than 1ft, it’s just a pretty picture, not a surf.
So, the honest truth is: there are no standouts here. Not a single session worth recommending. The whole 16-day period is a bust. If you’ve got a kite, you might look at Monday the 13th with that 12ft swell and strong wind, but for a paddle surfer, it’s a no-go. Keep an eye on the charts, but for now, go do something else.
Rusty.
