Right then, let's have a look at what's cookin' for the Falmouth area here, focusin' on Swanpool. Gotta be straight with you, this one's a bit of a slow burn, a real test of patience.

We're kickin' off on Wednesday the 8th of July, and honestly, the early days are a flat-out no-go. The water temp is sittin' at 62°, which is a touch warmer than normal for this time of year, but that's about the only highlight. The swell is tiny, just 0.3 ft from the south with a super long 19-second period, but with next to no energy (9), it's just not doin' anything. The wind's a cross-offshore on Wednesday, which is clean, but there's nothing to ride.

We're lookin' at a proper gap in the surf here. From Wednesday the 8th all the way through to Friday the 10th, it's just flat or tiny wind chop. Saturday the 11th sees a bit of bump start to show, with easterly swell building to 4 ft, but the period's a short 5-6 seconds and the wind is cross-onshore, so it's just messy, choppy, and no good. The combined energy is still weak (66-94), so it's a hard pass.

Now, here's where it gets a bit interesting, but maybe not for the right reasons. From Sunday the 12th through to Wednesday the 15th of July, the swell really kicks in. We're talkin' 7 ft to 8 ft from the east, with period stretchin' to 7-8 seconds. The combined energy jumps up high, into the strong range (like 574-961). That is a lot of water movin'. But here's the catch, folks: the wind is howlin' from the east at 15-22 mph, hammerin' in cross-onshore. For a beach setup like Swanpool, this is gonna be a messy, blown-out, lumpy mess. These waves are gonna be too big for beginners (over 5 ft) and honestly, with that onshore wind, it's more of a kite-surfing session than a paddle-surfing one. The quality is just poor.

There's a brief flicker of hope on Friday the 17th of July, when the swell drops back to 6-7 ft from the east, and the wind lightens up to 6-12 mph. The forecast calls it "marginal," and I'd agree. The energy is still moderate (471-498), but with a cross-onshore breeze and a short period, it's gonna be a tough ask for clean waves.

Saturday the 18th and Sunday the 19th, the swell fades right out again, droppin' back to 0.3 ft. On Sunday afternoon, we get a moment of glassy conditions with the wind goin' calm, and while the swell is from the south with a long 19-second period, there's just no size or energy (10) to do anything with.

The last few days of the window, from the 20th to the 23rd of July, it's back to flatness. The wind does go offshore and clean on several occasions, which is lovely, but with almost zero swell energy (values as low as 4), you'd be paddlin' for nothin'.

Look, if there's one standout moment to talk about, it doesn't really exist here. The only time there's any real size is from the 12th to the 15th, but the onshore wind destroys the quality, makin' it a no-go for a proper surf. The setup looks far more interesting for kite surfing than paddle surfing during that period. Keep an eye on the charts, but this forecast period is mostly a write-off for Swanpool.

Rusty.
