Table - best surf conditions forecast for Falmouth - Swanpool over the next 16 days.
Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s be straight with you – this 16-day run for Falmouth - Swanpool is a tough one. We’re looking at a long stretch of mainly poor surf conditions with very little to get excited about. The water temperature is sitting at 66°, which is a notable 5° warmer than usual for this time of year, so the sea feels more like a bath than a Cornish summer.
The week starts with a pulse of energy on Monday, 13 July, but it’s a mess. We’ve got a 10ft swell from the east with a short 8-second period, and there’s a strong cross-onshore wind from the ENE at 25 mph. While the combined swell energy is big at 1462 (moderate energy), the surf is just blown out and messy. It’s not a paddle, it’s a washing machine. That swell drops through Tuesday, but the cross-onshore winds persist, keeping everything choppy and uninviting.
The only real standout in the entire forecast comes on Thursday, 16 July, for the afternoon. The swell drops to 4ft from the east, but the wind swings to the WNW and goes completely glassy at 0 mph. The combined energy is a weak 159, but those glassy conditions mean the surface will be like a mirror. It’s the only time in the whole 16 days you’ll get clean, surfable waves. It’s not big, but if you’re desperate for a slide, this is your moment.
After that, it’s a wasteland. We have a gap of several days with no real recommendations. The swell disappears, dropping to less than 1ft, and while the wind goes offshore and clean at times, there’s simply no wave energy to push you. By the time we get to the end of July, the wind picks up again, and it’s just a case of watching the horizon.
Honestly, for this spot, there’s nothing on the horizon worth planning a trip around. The one Thursday afternoon window is the only chance for a clean, small session. Otherwise, it’s a blank run for the area.
Rusty.
