Table - best surf conditions forecast for Falmouth - Swanpool over the next 16 days.
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cookin’ for Falmouth - Swanpool over the next couple of weeks.
Right off the bat, I gotta be honest with ya – it’s a pretty grim picture. The whole 16-day window is lookin’ flat and messy, no real surf to get excited about at all. We’ve got a long stretch of nothing worthwhile, so don’t be holding your breath for any waves.
The first few days, starting Saturday 11 July, are a write-off. The wind is howlin’ out of the east at 19 mph, cross-on, and the swell is a weak, short-period 5 ft to 8 ft from the east. The combined energy might climb to 634 (moderate energy) on Sunday, but with that wind, it’s just a lumpy, choppy mess. Not worth paddling out.
Monday 13 July sees the biggest swell of the period, hitting 12 ft in the morning, but it’s accompanied by a strong cross-onshore breeze at 28 mph. The combined energy is a hefty 1621 (strong energy), but it’s pure trash – blown out and dangerous for anyone but experts, and even then, it’s not clean. The rest of the week is more of the same: cross-onshore winds, small, weak swell, and poor conditions.
For a brief moment on Wednesday afternoon 15 July, the wind goes glassy with a light 3 mph southwest breeze, but the swell is a pathetic 1 ft from the west-southwest (9 seconds). That’s groundswell, but there’s no energy to speak of (combined energy of 61). It’s clean, but flat. The water temperature is about average for the time of year, so nothin’ unusual there.
From Friday 17 July onwards, we get some offshore winds, but the swell is tiny – mostly 2 ft or less. The period jumps to 13 seconds on Friday afternoon, which is a long period groundswell, but with only 0.7 ft of height and combined energy of 31, it’s just a ripple. The wind is clean and offshore, but there’s nothin’ to ride. The rest of the run through to Sunday 26 July is the same story: clean winds, flat surf. The combined energy barely cracks double digits, often sittin’ below 10.
Honestly, for a beginner-friendly spot like Swanpool, this is a blank run. There’s not a single day I’d recommend. If you’re a kitesurfer, maybe the big wind and messy swell on the 13th might look interesting, but for paddle surfing, it’s a no-go. Don’t worry, though – it tends not to stay this poor for long, and forecasts can change.
Rusty.
