The Lowdown
Alright, Rusty here. Let’s take a look at what Conado-Beach has lined up.
Honestly, it’s grim. The whole 16-day window is a write-off without a single decent surf session. We’re looking at a serious drought right from the start that stretches deep into the second week.
Conado-Beach is a breakwater spot, but the wind is relentless. From Sunday afternoon July 26th on, it’s a messy cross or cross-onshore breeze out of the east or east-southeast blowing 12 to 19 mph, kicking up chop and ruining any chance of clean waves. Swell is tiny, mostly 2 ft to 5 ft, with short, weak periods under 8 seconds. Combined energy stays low, sometimes bumping to moderate on Wednesday July 29th with that 5 ft swell and energy reading 219, but it’s still lumpy thanks to the fresh cross-shore wind. Poor conditions all around.
Water temp on the 26th is 84°, just normal for this time of year.
There’s just no surf worth chasing here. Between the small swell and the constant wind, this setup looks more suited for kite surfing than paddle surfing.
Nothing to get hopeful about unless the forecast flips. A blank spell like this is pretty typical for this area unfortunately.
Rusty.
