La Bomba Surf Forecast and Surf Report

Alright folks, Rusty here. Gotta be straight with you – this 16-day window for the region is a tough one. We’ve got a long stretch of poor conditions ahead, and the only glimmer of something rideable is a long way off, so don’t get your hopes up for the next week and a half.

The first real chance of anything even close to decent isn’t until Tuesday the 18th of August. For the entire period before that, from Wednesday the 5th through to Monday the 17th, the models are showing nothing but a "poor surf conditions" call. The wind is a constant cross-shore mess, and the swell is a short-period, weak affair. We’re talking combined energy values mostly under 200 (moderate at best), with the swell direction coming from the ENE and E. The wind is a solid 12 to 19 mph from the east, which is cross-shore for La Bomba, leaving the surface chopped up and lumpy. The water temp is sitting at a warm 84°F, which is about average for this time of year, so at least a dip in the ocean won’t be a shock.

There is a very brief glimmer on Tuesday the 18th of August. The morning shows a "marginal" call for La Bomba. We’ll see a 5 ft swell from the east, with a period of 6 seconds. The combined energy will be a moderate 347. The wind is finally set to go cross-offshore from the ESE, which will clean things up. This is a reef break, and it’s inconsistent, so don’t expect much. The 5 ft swell is a bit much for beginners, but it’s not huge. If you’re itching for a paddle on that Tuesday morning, you might just get a few. But honestly, it’s a long shot.

After that, it’s back to the poor stuff for the rest of the window. The standout here is that Tuesday the 18th of August morning is the only thing worth even a glance. The rest of the 16 days is a write-off. This is one of those stretches where the forecast can change, but right now, it’s looking like a long, flat, and bumpy run.
