The Lowdown
Alright, folks, Rusty here. Let's get straight into it for Ibiza's Cala Nova.
Right off the bat, the next couple of weeks are looking pretty flat and quiet for this spot. We've got a long stretch ahead with very little to get excited about. The first week is mostly a write-off, with only a couple of small windows that might get your hopes up, but it's slim pickings.
The most interesting moment actually lands on the morning of Saturday, the 29th of August. We've got a small, clean 3ft swell pushing in from the ESE. The key here is the wind – it's glassy, dead calm. That'll make the water surface like a mirror. The swell is short period, only 7 seconds, so don't expect a ton of power, but the combined energy sits at a moderate 93. The water is a seriously warm 85°, which is much warmer than normal for the time of year. For a small wave beach and reef setup, this is about as good as it's going to get. The crowds here are listed as "sometimes" so you might find a few others with the same idea, but it won't be a zoo.
Before that, there's a small window on Friday morning, the 21st of August. We see a 4ft groundswell from the SSW with a weak period of 6 seconds, but the wind is cross-offshore and clean. The combined energy (108) is moderate. It's surfable, but it's not a standout. The rest of that first week is a mix of weak, short-period windswell and onshore or cross-onshore breezes, leaving the surf very ordinary.
After that Saturday morning session on the 29th, we're back into that quiet pattern. The wind goes onshore again in the afternoon, and the following days drop off into tiny, un-surfable conditions. By the time we get into the first few days of September, the swell is basically non-existent.
So, here is the deal: the entire 16-day window is a bit of a struggle. There's no big swell to write home about. The only true standout is that calm Saturday morning on the 29th. If you're keen for a paddle and a few clean little ones, that's your moment. Otherwise, it's a waiting game. The break is inconsistent at the best of times, so a quiet run like this isn't unexpected.
Stay patient,
Rusty.
