Cabo Corrientes Surf Forecast and Surf Report

First up, we’ve got a slow start at Cabo Corrientes. The first few days are nothing to get excited about. Saturday the 1st and Sunday the 2nd of August are flat with poor conditions – small, weak swell and cross-off or cross-on winds making a mess of things. The swell energy is weak, and the waves are tiny. Not worth paddling out.

Monday the 3rd of August shows a flicker of hope. The morning sees a little bump in energy, with a 3ft swell from the SSE and a 10-second period. The wind is light and cross-off, so it’s clean. But it’s still small, and the afternoon gets messy again with rain and moderate cross-shore wind. Tuesday the 4th is also small and clean in the morning, but nothing special.

Then we hit a dry spell. From Wednesday the 5th through Thursday the 6th, the swell drops off hard. The energy falls to almost nothing, and the waves are tiny. It’s a proper lull.

Now, the real standout arrives on Friday the 7th of August. The morning brings a solid 7ft swell from the SSW, with a 9-second period and a clean offshore wind. The energy is strong. This is the first day where it’s worth getting out there. The swell is big enough to get your heart pumping, but it’s not too big for a decent surfer. The wind is offshore, so the waves will be clean and well-shaped.

But the absolute best of the run is Saturday the 8th of August. The morning is glassy – zero wind, with the swell building to 8ft from the SSE and a 12-second period. The energy is massive. That’s a proper groundswell, long period, and it’s going to produce powerful, lined-up waves. This is for experienced surfers only – 8ft is in the expert zone, and crowds are possible here. The afternoon is just as good, with 8ft and a 13-second period, still glassy. This is the session to circle on the calendar.

Sunday the 9th of August still has plenty of size (8ft) and energy, but the wind picks up to a cross-off, which will put a little bump on the surface. Still very surfable.

Monday the 10th of August sees the swell drop to 5ft in the morning, with a clean offshore wind. Good waves for a solid intermediate, but the real magic is behind us.

After that, the swell fades fast. From Tuesday the 11th onward, the numbers drop, the wind gets messy, and the waves become small and weak. The rest of the second week is a write-off.

So here’s the bottom line: the first few days are a bust, then a lull, then a killer window from Friday the 7th to Monday the 10th. The standout is Saturday the 8th of August – glassy, 8ft, long period SSE swell, with massive energy. That’s the one you want.
