The Lowdown

Alright, Rusty here with the lowdown on Cabo Corrientes. This stretch ain’t looking like a winner for the most part. We got a lot of small, messy days, with one big pulse of swell later on that’s blowing sideways.

The water is about 50°F, just a hair warmer than usual for this time of year. You'll feel it’s a little less brisk than normal.

For the first week, we got a big dry spell with nothing worth getting wet for until Wednesday the 16th. That morning shows a 5ft SSE swell at 9 seconds, with moderate wave energy (413), but it's got a light cross-shore wind. It’s marginal, just a chance to get wet if you're really jonesing. The swell fades quick after that. Thursday the 17th has clean 3ft waves with a cross-off breeze, but it’s weak energy (117). Friday and Saturday, the 18th and 19th? Forget it, flat and weak.

Around Monday the 21st, we get a clean offshore breeze at 15 mph and a 2ft east swell. It’s small, with moderate energy (105). The next day, Tuesday the 22nd, is the pick of the first week: a 3ft southerly swell with clean conditions and moderate energy (303). That's your best bet for a clean, small session. The waves will be clean, but don’t plan on anything over waist-high.

Now, for the big news: Saturday the 26th of September. We’re looking at a 8ft southerly swell in the morning, with the combined energy hitting a strong 770. That's a lot of water moving. But it’s got a short 8-second period and a lumpy cross-shore wind. At that size over 8 feet, this is strictly for the experts, and the bumpy conditions will make it a real battle. The afternoon is a similar story with 7ft waves. Lots of power, but no polish.

After that, Sunday the 27th has a 5ft SSE swell but with a light cross-on wind that will mess up the face. Monday and Tuesday, the 28th and 29th, the size drops and the wind turns onshore again.

So, here's the bottom line: if you’re an experienced charger and don't mind a little chop, Saturday the 26th is your day for size. If you just want the cleanest wave, the small but tidy Tuesday the 22nd is your best call. It’s a rough run.

Rusty.
