The Lowdown
Second text (imperial)
Alright, mates, Rusty here. Let’s break down what’s coming at Xivares. The water’s about normal for the season, nothing to write home about.
The first real window opens up on Thursday morning, August 22nd. It’s not the biggest, but with a glassy 4ft NW swell at 8 seconds, the conditions are absolutely perfect. The combined swell energy is a solid 323 (moderate), and with that light offshore wind, the waves will be clean and offering some fun, rideable lines. This is a great session for intermediates, and the crowds shouldn’t be a hassle.
We hit a bit of a dry spell after that. The next few days are pretty ordinary with poor surf until we get to the end of the month. The surf fires up again on Thursday morning, August 29th. This is a serious standout. We’re looking at a 8ft WNW swell with a period of 8 seconds, pushing a combined energy of 706 (strong). The wind is a clean cross-offshore from the WSW, keeping the waves nicely groomed. This is bigger, so it’s one for the experienced crew. Expect very good surf conditions.
The good news keeps coming. Saturday morning, August 31st, offers another cracker. A 6ft NW swell with an 8-second period and a combined energy of 788 (strong) is met with light offshore winds from the W. The result is clean, punchy waves. The swell direction is a solid match for the break. It’s a beauty.
And then, for the first day of September, the reward is sweet. Monday morning, the 1st of September, brings a clean 5ft NW swell, 9-second period, combined energy of 632 (strong), and absolutely glassy conditions with a calm wind. This is about as good as it gets for a fun, clean session. The following Tuesday morning, the 2nd of September, is also glassy with a 5ft NW swell and 8-second period, yielding 323 energy. It’s a solid, clean option.
The last real standout in the forecast is Wednesday morning, the 3rd of September. A 6ft NW swell, 9-second period, combined energy of 622 (strong), and glassy conditions from a light ENE wind. It’s a real treat for the start of the week.
The final morning of the forecast, Friday morning, the 5th of September, is a glassy dream as well. A 6ft NW swell, 10-second period, combined energy of 752 (strong), and a light offshore breeze. It’s a fantastic way to wrap up the outlook, though it’s a long way out so keep an eye on the updates.
Rusty.
