Alright folks, Rusty here. Let’s have a look at what’s cookin’ for Xivares over the next couple of weeks.
Straight up, I gotta be honest with you – this stretch is a real flat spell. We’ve got a solid 16-day window ahead, but there’s barely a whisper of decent surf in it. The first few days are a write-off, with poor conditions and tiny, weak swell. You’re looking at a long gap here with nothing worth paddling out for until we get past the first week.
The water’s sitting at 69°, which is much warmer than normal for this time of year – a proper anomaly of 4°. That’s notable, but it won’t help the waves.
Sunday July 5th through to Thursday July 9th is all rubbish. Tiny swell around 1.0ft to 2ft, mostly cross-shore or cross-onshore breezes, and combined energy readings barely cracking 100 (85 being the best of a bad bunch). Forget it.
Friday July 10th is the one tiny glimmer in this whole outlook. The morning session at Xivares shows a glassy surface with a light WSW breeze, and the swell is a modest 3ft from the NW with a 9-second period. The combined energy is 113, so there’s a little bit of push there. It’s surfable, but it’s very ordinary. If you’re desperate for a splash, that’s your only real shot, but don’t expect any fireworks.
After that, it’s back to the doldrums. Saturday July 11th onwards is a mix of poor surf, cross-onshore winds, and energy levels dropping back into the weak zone. Even when the swell bumps up a touch around Sunday July 12th (4ft to 5ft from the NNW), the wind is wrong and the conditions are listed as poor. That raw energy (340 on the Sunday) sounds meaty, but with a 9-second period and cross-onshore breeze, it’ll be a messy, choppy mess. Not worth the drive.
The second week is more of the same – weak, small, and messy. A few glassy mornings pop up around Saturday July 19th, but the swell is only 2ft, and the combined energy is just 75. It’s a tease.
So, where does that leave us? Honestly, there’s no standout here. The only break worth a mention is Xivares on the morning of Friday July 10th. It’s small, it’s clean, but it’s not going to blow your mind. If you’re a beginner, the 3ft is fine, but there’s no real power behind it. For the rest of the period, the beach setup with this wind and small, weak swell is more interesting for a kite surfer than a paddle surfer.
Hang in there, mate. It can’t stay this quiet forever.
Rusty.
